Hi there

Is it possible to set a wall transparent for the camera but still solid for lights?
I often have the problem of walls or other objects covering the scene while using extreme perspectives.

Thanks!

Select the wall object(s), and set Element Display Type to Outline:

This works also during rendering or only in preview mode?

It only affects preview, and will be saved into your scene - I've actually set up my default scene to be enclosed in a box set this way.  It will render the same regardless of that display style setting.

For rendering in a enclosed scene you can play with the focal value of the camera between 35 and 25 mm .

Hmmm, I can't think of any way to make an object treat raytraces differently depending on whether they are coming directly from the camera lens or from somewhere else.

But maybe, just maybe, there is some shader node that returns the raytrace recursion number. Then the object could be made transparent for the primary ray and opaque for all subsequent recursions. That might do it.

Any raytrace node gurus hanging about?
