Just a heads up: GG3.1 is now free. This guy (mankahoo/ali) makes lovely models with very expressive faces.

Has anyone tried the new P8 rigging on this or another figure yet?

Wow - I have to agree. Pretty amazing stuff on his site.
Thanks for the link,
Clint

As long as we're posting nice freestuff, here some I found if you still use Hiro 3. I've never seen so many clothing items for Hiro in one place....

The etienne outfit is pretty cool looking ;o).

 Very nice stuff.

mackis3D posted Sat, 15 August 2009 at 1:54 PM

The original posting occurs to me as SPAM.

It's the wrong forum, since there already is a forum for "Free stuff" - the first one under "Topics" on the first page for forums.

But since the so called free stuff needs registration it's nothing more than SPAM. And the link is just a link to the shop, not to the free stuff of the shop.

Reading the headline of the OP you think nice, someone gives you a free figure for Poser 8. It's only SPAM. I want to read here about Poser 8!

The figure is free, registration is free, that's not spam in my opinion. Also, this is the "Poser" forum, not the "Poser 8 Forum."

I don't need a free figure at present but I was very interested to hear about it.

I aim to update it about once a month.  Oh, and it's free!

I know it's the Poser forum. Also this is NOT the Free Stuff thread!

@Laurie: Don't bite the hand that feeds you, I understand. But I'm not only the user who dislikes the promotion crossovers. I'm glad if people give out free stuff, but going to another website, having to register to get it, is just advertising, nothing else. For some people TV is commercials that are interrupted by program, for me it's the other way around...

And some people applaud themselves if they get hanged.

In all fairness, I don't believe the person who originally posted this had anything whatever to do with the website of that figure. They just found her, thought she was nice, and decided to give everyone else a head's-up who didn't know about her. Maybe the poster could have mentioned that a site registration was required, but for those that want the figure that's not really much of a hinderance. It happens so often now - there are MANY sites that require you register to download freebies, including THIS one I might add.

People list freebie sources in here all the time - it's always been that way, and I really doubt it's going to stop much. This entire community began on that premise (I should know, because I was here when the site began - it was ALL freebies then!).

As for the Poser 8 you want to read? Look around....there's a plethora of threads on Poser 8 from which to choose. You don't need to read this one. I'm still trying to root thru all the Poser 8 overload...lol (and not keeping up too well I must admit ;o) ).

If you really feel that this thread is spam, I invite you to write to admin@renderosity.com and let them know. I'll also let the staff know if you like. But to accuse the OP of spamming is just silly when it's such a common occurrence for people to - 1. Post freebie sources and 2. Site registration to get a freebie is so common.

@Laurie: Thanks for your reply.

First part of your posting I was not aware of that.

Generally I have to say I've read the sticky post regarding commercial postings a few days ago. I thought it's common sense what commercials are. Free stuff that is linked to sites where one has to register is viewed as commercial for most Internet users. There should be a difference between a forum and the market. But never mind, the original poster posted it only once, my critic was harsh in this case and maybe my view on it is not shared by the majority of the users here.

But the new trend is in a lot of threads now "free stuff" ads for commercial websites turn up. So this is a way to undergo the sticky post 'Regarding "commercial" posts" and there should be some space where on can read something without interrupted by advertisements.

For example search for user '3dream' and you know what I mean. In every second Poser thread he announces he had created a face morph for Alyson with a link to his website. I don't even know if it's free, because he does not mention it. This kind of postings somehow damage the intention of a forum where users exchange their experiences with the software, workarounds etc. That's all what I wanted to say about it.

I have a lot of that free stuff.  The names are great too.

Well, nearly every site that contains freebies now contains some type of commercial section. There's no getting around it anymore... I can give you a list as long as my arm.

This I don't really consider an advertisment per se: the original poster was not announcing the "store", but the freebie. And as far as I can tell, the poster does not own the store.

As for 3Dream - yes, I've seen them. The Alyson morph is free (I checked right off) and he should mention that. I'll write him and say something to him and that he's to post it in freebies because it's HIS freebie, can you see the distinction? I can see how people are turned off by his postings of late. I guess he just felt he was doing everyone a favor. I mean, we can't really know his motivation. I do know he doesn't speak english very well at all and maybe does not understand how people are objecting to his posts.

Other than that, posting freebie sources has always been allowed here because they are Poser specific or relevant to Poser. Now, if the OP was giving a link to someone's new kitchen widget, then I'd have to wonder a little more about it ;o).

Hell me personally, I think there is TOO MANY Poser 8 threads to wade through since I cant upgrade any time soon but you don't see me complaining about it in any of those threads do you? Nope I just ignore them other than looking at them now and then if one grabs my eye. Don't like a thread ignore it.

1) Pretty cool... the man is good at morphing. The figure is kinda cute in its own way as well (though you'd never, ever, ever be able to morph it yourself - but no worries there). The faces are made to be constantly expressing something (like most human faces), so it'd present a challenge to the NVIATWAS crowd.

2) it ain't spam - you can fake your info anytime you want and pop right in. Personally, I find that his little store is worth going back to, so I put in the minimum info (but kept my name, a spare email addy, and zip code real in case I wanted to add anything vital for billing information later).
