Hi
I`m having a trouble making thumbs with maximum 15k 100x100 or 200x200 pixels in size.
I have photoshopCS4 and photoshop5 , in CS4 a blank JPG image white stays above the 15k for a long way, in PS5 I can do it but the image has to be so compressed that loses so much quality, becoming very ugly I might say.
Is there a way to do 15k thumbs without losing so much quality or none at all?
Because, I see some images on the galleries and they seem Ok, while others are very bad on quality (including mines), and it is just a shame because some of this ones are very good images.
Thanks for your help

Reduce the image size to 200 or whatever.
ln any of the CS programmes go to FILE > Save for web and devices..click that and a new window opens.
Make sure jpeg is selected as the option to save.
Get hold the quality slider and adjust it until the file size is 15k or just below.
Click save and save it to your chosen location.
I actually use a seperate folder so all my work reduced in size goes in there.
As the maximum size for a lot of work summitted to Rosity is 512kb what I do is first reduce the original image to about 1200 pixels and go through the save for web bit first and then reduce the image agian to 200px and repeat the sequence for the thumbnail.
I have a folder called Rosity and I always save everything reduced ( both the bigger image and the thumbnail ) to that folder. That way you wont accidently over write the original file.
When you close the file and Photoshop asks if you want to save the changes...say NO as you have already done that and if you saved the file you would over write the original.
Hope this helps, if you dont understand anything..mail me
Then upload your files from the Rosity ( or whatever you call it ) folder.

Ok
Thanks Eddie
I`ve got it!
Somehow my CS4 crashes in that option (maybe it`s from Vista) but with 5 it’s all right.
Many thanks

Save for web is the way to go, for photographic material and images with a lot of shades and colours the best options are jpeg and png. For solid colours with a limited palette gif is the way to go.
