So, I finally found out how to do very inexpensive IBL lighting. Using a gazing globe to get the light probe. One question I have is about taking the picture. Does the flash from the camera affect the light probe enough to be noticable?
Also, how should I go about taking the picture? Should I stand far away and zoom in or should I just get right up to the sphere? I'm thinking far away as there is less of me in the globe blocking light

there should be no flash light.
if you go far away you wont get a wide angle.

The proper trick is to set your camera on a tripod and fill you view screen with the gazing globe. DO NOT USE FLASH!!!!! That will defeat the purpose.
