Subject: Developer Issue with Textures for CR2s

Hi all

i am usually creating poser content, but have an issue whenever i want to load one of my figures into DAZ...
The props all work ok, but the CR2s mess up the textures. I have removed all the Downloads: in the file and they all purely point to runtime:textures ... etc. the files are there but none of the CR2s load any textures in DAZ3. the Props work all fine.

Any idea? I guess i will stop supporting DAZ at all as its so combersome to work around it. Poser is all fine and easy...

Thanks for your input !

That's very strange -- I've never had that problem loading a .cr2.  Do you have the runtime listed under Edit>Preferences>Directories with the pull-down set to "Poser format content folders"?  What version of Poser was the .cr2 created in, and did you have "Binary Morph Targets" turned off?

Thanks for your answer ... there are not morphs in it. Its Poser 7 content but only one bone, so very simple. The directories are added as usual and as said, loading a prop using the same texture path works fine.... there are also no spaces in the name or material name ...

That's a common problem, it seems that in some cases Poser doesn't store the path correctly. It should be ":Runtime:textures:rest_of_thepath_here". Note the colon at the beginning.

Poser seems to be a bit sloppy and work with it but the path is basically incomplete without the colon at the beginning.

And is the runtime containing the texture listed in "Poser format content folders" under Edit>Preferences>Directories?

3-d-c posted Wed, 19 August 2009 at 9:34 AM

hm. no. i tested the path again, its is complete
:runtime:textures:3dc:.... etc. the same path works fine for a prop using the same path.

Thats so odd, but happens to all my figures, that i created....

just in case, Studio cannot read or 'see'  .mc6 files

Does the texture load correctly when the CR2 is opened in Poser?

If so check the DS3  log file for errors pertaining to any actors in the CR2.

Quite often a morph or actor related error will cause DS to drop the texture loading section of the CR2 even though it loads in Poser.

As an example I have had a missing bracket after editing a CR2 cause this to happen.

Also check the CR2 in DS2 if possible to further determine if the error is general to DS or is only DS3 related.

Hi lisarichie.

i guess it must be something like this. It loads all fine in Poser.
Well i will try the transfer of the Mat files into the DS files and see if this helps.... elsewise i forget about DAZ support. ...

cheers!

Transferring the mats to DS format and applying them after loading the model will work (as should PZ2 MATS) since the textures would be loaded separately from the CR2 in both cases.

However, if you want the CR2 to load correctly and automatically apply the textures then you'll need to discover and correct the problem in the CR2.

HI There.

Wanna let you know, that i finally found the problem. Simple, but i have no idea Why DAZ Does that: The issue always only appears when a figure was loaded, however, not on all figures. So i began comparing the CR2 files line by line.
The problem is, Poser some writes the core of a figure as BODY, sometimes as BODY:2 or so, depending if you have more than one in your scene. My figures with a ":x" at the end all worked ok in DAZ, so i replaced all the BODY entries in the CR2 with BODY:1 and BOOOM it works in DAZ.
So whyever, if you use BODY:1 instead of BODY in your CR2, the textures load fine.

Just to let you know, this was really annoying...
;)

I'm guessing that it's a DS3 issue... i work in Daz 2.5 and have never encountered a prob like that... and i use it to create poser content models... odd... hmmmmmmmmm... i've even looked over some of my cr2's for freebie items and stuff and i've seen body 2 intsead of body 1 or just body... never had a prob loading a cr2... but i've been noticing that DS3 has ALOT of issues.. it's all over the forums here and most other places... including Daz's... which is why i haven't changed up to the new version...
