Could someone who has the product tell me if the highlights in the eyes are painted, or actual reflections?
(Look painted to me, but I could be wrong.)

It doesn't say on the product page, so I figured I'd ask those who bought it. :)

I don't have the product, but I looked at the promo images and it looks to me like there's an anisotropic specular node on the cornea maybe, which would mean that the reflection is from the lights.

You could contact the product's creator and ask ;o).
