I am currently waiting for Poser 8 to ship. I expect to get it within about a week.
I am currently using a PC with the following specs:
2.1 GHz Duo core
800 GHz FSB Motherboard
320 SATA II HDD
2 GB RAM DDR2 667 GHz
512 MB Geforce 7600 Display card (DDR2)
17 Inch CRT Monitor
Windows XP Home 32bit
Poser 6 & 7.
Poser 7 is working well, only the renders take some time.
Since I have ordered P8, I have decided to buy a laptop/notebook for portability for my work as well.
I have ordered a Gigabyte laptop with the following specs:
2.53 GHz Core 2 Duo
1066 GHz FSB Motherboard
4 GB RAM 800 GHz DDR2
512 MB 9600 Dedicated Display card
500GB SATA HDD
± 15 Inch LCD Screen
Windows Vista Home Premium
Poser 6, 7 & 8
I get this for about $1250,00 where it is suppose to be in the region of $2000-00. When a special is launched, you have to act or forget about it.
I have heard a lot of stories about Vista and I have encountered some on other peoples' computers with it. The supplier will disable the administrators rights part (the asking for confirmation to do anything).
Now I would like to know from other users that uses Vista if they experience any problems.
I can always go back to XP as my one PC will be braked up and then I have an extra copy of XP (Full version, not OEM). Must I stay with Vista or rather go back to XP?
(I am using a memory manager currently and no program uses up my RAM but my CPU are sometimes used to 100%. So the new laptop will be noticeable faster than what I currently have and it is also portable. The speed of most of the programs depend firstly of CPU power before RAM only).
Regards
Johan
