Thank you in Advance,

why a procedural ? you could simply paint a transparency map on a prop square to use as a filter.

Marks, Thank u for answering, but i don't know how to "paint a transparency map" on a prop square.

There's probably a more elegant way, but I didn't think about elegant, just quick!
If you want blurry edges it'll take me a bit longer.
I'll post the material file in a minute.

The PM:Adjust_Width node controls the width, but I didn't bother to invert it, so value 20 gives a 0.1 width cross, value 10 gives a wider 0.2 width cross, value 5 give 0.4, etc. Just play with it, and you'll see.

Just create an square new image in photoshop gimp or whatever you use, paint it black then take a solid brush and paint white the shape you want the light save as jpg, select your light, go to the material room and atatch this image to the difuse channel of the light.

I would be inclined to use a transparency map as ima70 suggested.
But if you really prefer to use a procedural, here's an alternative.

Hi guys,
This might be a stupid ? but where does the procedural get connected? and you need a prop behind it to get the effect right?

You plug the output directly into the Color of the Light node, as in the above pic.
Yes, there needs to be a backdrop of some sort in the scene to catch the light and shadow.

IsaoShi, how do you get the V_ and U_ Texture coordinates in your nodes? As in your image? Thanks :)

IshaoShi> Thank u sooo much. The only roblem I am Having is I cany seem to get more of the cross to show. I have raised the light on the "y" axis, however if I raise it too high the shadow on the floor isnt as crisp. Any suggestions?

If you make the start angle the same as the end angle, there will be no fading at the edges (as in the image above). I don't know how useful this will be, though. You may be better off using a transparency map.

VK, that image uses the transparency map, right?. Not a procedural shader (which does not use image maps).
(Btw, you should have credited ima70 for the transmap, not me!)
But no matter. Looks good to me. Is anything there not the way you wanted it?
I might have been inclined to move the spotlight further away and reduce the spread a lot. This would have the effect of reducing the 'taper' on the lower part of the cross projection, as well as including the three upper ends of the cross. But it isn't my picture, it's yours!

or you could use 8 prop planes arranged to give the Cross shape and put that infront of a light - known as a Gobo - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gobo_%28lighting%29
just another Technique in the pot ;)
