Whenever I start P7, it tells me that there is a new update. I've downloaded and installed the new update, which just seems to be SP3. On the website, it has the following update, and the version number matches what Poser 7 tells me about.
Poser 7 (not Poser Pro) Service Release 3 for Win ENGLISH ONLY
Updates all English Win versions of Poser 7 to 7.0.4 - 50.5 MB (EXE).
After installing the update, P7 still keeps prompting me to get the update.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Go to General Preferences & click on the Misc tab, uncheck the box next to Check for updates on launch & it'll stop telling you there's an update.

You could change this line in Poser.ini
CHECK_FOR_UPDATES_ON_LAUNCH 1
to
CHECK_FOR_UPDATES_ON_LAUNCH 0

I keep getting this too.
But I didn't install it because I wasn't sure if I the prompt number matched the update
available there. The prompt has a couple more numbers on the end after the 4. I just
wasn't sure I was looking at the right thing.
I also meant to come here and ask what it's for before installing it.
Do you know what it's for? What it corrected or updated?

I've been getting this too, but I already have the latest update for Poser7. I think this is just an add for the Poser 8 upgrade.

I mentioned this to the Web Staff... I think it is because the page was changed, when Poser 8 was launched.

But I had "check for updates" turned off, and it still popped up in my P7 SP3.
A bit invasive.

Yep, we're all getting it. It's annoying, but I can deal with it.
Yeah SM, we KNOW Poser 8's available...lol. Oh, do we know!! ;o).

I'm getting the update messages too. I think it's advertising for Poser 8 -- a marketing and sales indueced bug!!
