Hi!
When Poser 8 was released i bougth it as an upgrade, I installed the upgrade on my comp where Poser 7 was previously installed and everything was ok.

This morning my computer died (fried motherboard i suspect) so i have just finnished configuring another comp.
When i now install Poser 8 it wont accept the serial, on my other comp i used Poser 7´s serial as P8 is an upgrade.

Do i need to have Poser 7 installed on this machine too? Does Poser 8 look for something in the registry that isnt there on this machine?

I should ask Smith Micro but it takes a long time to get an answer , hoping someone here has experienced something equal so i can use Poser 8 today.

Thx / Jonny

i got the upgrade and i didnot had any version installed...
The upgrade is a normal version but you got to put in your serial when you buy so they know you got  a older version..
So it should work as a single installed poser .. and i have a serial for P8 .. so i dunno why you put in P7's serial in ...

P8 has his own serial number and no other version is req. for it to work..

BAR-CODE is spot on, the 'upgrade' product is exactly the same as the 'full' product. Only the price is different, nothing else. It's not actually an 'upgrade' at all, and I wish they wouldn't use that term, it just creates unnecessary confusion and questions.

The Poser 8 install does not check if you have an earlier version installed on your computer.

Once installed, the serial number you enter is the Poser 8 serial number SM sent you by email when you bought it. If you have lost it, get in touch with SM and they should send it again.

Hi!

You guys were rigth, i feel a bit silly now :-)

I must have recalled it all wrong (one month ago, duh!), went to CP and in my account was the correct serial ( i never got an email with it upon purchase because of problems, another story)

Im glad that i didnt open a ticket on this one, thanks for your help.

Actually it won't even let you put in the old poser 7 serial number.  It skips that box when entering info and you can only put in the poser 8 serial number.
