What surface groups (material zones) did you make ? There should be at least two. One for the uv mapped area, and one for node based textures.
I would be happy to look at it if you would send me copy .

LOL, You have been texted or twittered. Some people can read this communication style, and some cannot. Not to be arrogant, but allow me to translate.
*"Well, were do I start.
The other day I made a music player, a bit like an Ipod. I exported it to poser to add texture to get it ready to save. Bearing in mind, I had made a UV map for the screen and menu button, and the rest was being textured in the Mat Room. I’ve done this before and had no problems adding .jpg’s, etc. to items that I made before.
Well, I imported, went to the mat room, and added textures to the bit that didn’t need UV maps on them. OK, then I went to add .jpgs like you do, then back to the Main Poser, and went to render in FireFly, and nothing. The normal textures rendered great but the others didn’t. I tried different formats, like .png.
Today I decided to put it a side and make something else and the same thing has happened again, but this time the UV textures worked on 1 item but not the others. I’m so pulling my hair over this, as it’s so strange as to why it’s doing it.
I’m working in poser 7. All normals are all forward. I hope some one can help me as I’m thinking of screaming very loud, LOL. Thanks. Sorry for the long read."*
Sadly, I do not have the answers to the problems.

Thanks for the translation, lkendall. I'd given up on the first post, too.
As for the problem at hand.. are you sure you've saved - and that you're using - the new, UVMapped obj?

Thank you Ikendall, that helped a bunch.
As trekkiegrrl suggested it sounds like the OP forgot to save after making the UVs.

I don't think the problem is with Poser but with how player is being modeled, UV mapped or being saved as an OBJ.
Can you go into more detail how you are doing that?

However, you might want to consider getting a copy of UV Mapper (I use the Pro version, but what follows applies to the free version)
With UV Mapper you can Load your model to see what the UV mapping done in Hex looks like.
If you need to UV map it the simplest thing to do would then be to create a new UV Map using the Box method for the player.
Then you could select by group or material and work on part individually. For example after Box mapping the whole model you can then select a material such as menu and map it using planer mapping and make it fill the entire map.
Then when you’re done you would need to Save the Model and you can also Save the Texture Map (i.e., the template) to use as a guide for texturing. When saving the Texture Map you can chose to not show parts that are hidden, so for example you can hide the menu and save a Texture Map for the rest of the model and then show the menu and hide the rest of the model and save a Texture Map for the menu.
Here are a few useful UVMapper Keyboard shortcuts:
=: Expands the current selection to fill the entire map
‘: Hide unselected
]: Show selected
[: Hide selected

I just started using Hex, so I'm not much help either. However, from perusing the Hexagon forum here (probably a good place to stop by), I've seen more than one thread about difficulties UVMapping in Hex.
I just tried UVMapping something from Hexagon last night, and the way it 'worked' was way different from my other package (Wings 3d). This evidently is a known problem with Hexagon. Evidently you do something with the edges, but I'm still in nu-be mode, so try over there.
I was gonna suggest checking your keyboard for a loose space bar, until someone explained it...;)

I use Hexagon almost exclusively for my models these days - and its UVmapping SUXXX!
So I uv map everything in UVMapper Pro after it's done.
I've tried it in Hexagon, but .. ended up remapping it in 'UVMapper anyway.

You sure can as long as it's not specific to Hexagon.

Poser is pulling OP's hair out? That's just a new feature of the Hair Room, is all.
