I'm getting "error importing the wxPython API" error notice when I start up Poser 8 on my XP SP3 machine. Tried uninstall/reinstall wxPython, but still getting the error.
Any suggestions? (Great forum here, by the way)

Did you install a separate wxPython installer in the Poser Python runtime? That won't work. Only the wxPython distribution that gets installed with Poser 8 will work.

Yes, I did install a separt wxPython to my system as a whole. I imagine I need to uninstall this and see if Poser 8 corrects itself. Any way to make sure the Poser 8 wxPython is installed. I suppose I could re-install everything as it's a pretty fresh install.

Did you install wxPython in a separate location or in the Poser runtime? Ideally, a separate wxPython installation in a different location should not affect Poser's Python. Poser comes with everything it needs, so unless you develop with wxPython yourself have other software that requires wxPython, there is no need for installing it in addition.
The one thing I could imagine is that the separate Python installation set certain environment variables that cause Poser's Python to search in the other location.

Very clear explanation, stewer, just what I needed. I removed the separate install of Python 2.6 standard (apparently, I'd already uninstalled the separate install of wxPython) and the error message is gone + Python scripts appear where they are supposed to on the interface. Yay!
