I love Sketchup. it's my main 3D app now mainly because it's easy to use yet hugely powerful.

i like skechup a lot (never could master an other 3d prog on my own before) - many possibilities and very easy to learn! there also is a community from where you can get lots of great plugins, either for free or for a minimal amount.

How about free tutorials for a beginner and not the advanced or intermediate tutorials like at go-2-schools Sketchup Show?

a good place to start is the forums at the link.. plus there are loads of Youtube vids.koosievantutte posted Fri, 25 September 2009 at 4:44 PM
as i hate help files and tutorials i did not look at many of them. taught myself and got the basics in a day. there are a lot of tutorials around, don't know about all of them but the few i saw - some of the go-2-school ones and a few on youtube were good.

the forum kaibach mentioned is a good start - friendly and helpful people and a lot of knowledge there. then there is the 'daily catchup' site with news and links to plugins etc.:

This isn't good news for Sketchup users who like to import cad files into Sketchup....They are reporting the free version will no longer allow importing of cad files.....Khai-J-Bach posted Thu, 01 October 2009 at 1:47 PM
