Subject: Does alternate diffuse include ambient light ?

Hello, I am not sure about the difference of diffuse and alternate diffuse. If I use alternate diffuse the material glows even though all lights are off in the scene (also no AO, IL, EnvSphere with AO etc.).

If I use diffuse instead of alternate diffuse everything is black.

Does Alternate Diffuse includes Ambient light?
