I'm having an issue with hips 'locking' in Poser 8. I'm a beginner with Poser, so it's highly possible I've missed something somewhere, but haven't stumbled onto it as yet.
If I load Victoria, everything is fine with the figure zeroed. I can apply rotation to the hips with no problem. However, if I apply one of her pre-loaded poses, then want to tweak the hips a bit, I'll find the hips are 'locked' - in other words if I select her hip and try to rotate, the entire body rotates. It's the same if /i try to bend her forward or back - the entire body just rotates. I can apply a different pose, and she will go into the pose with no problem, but again, I cannot adjust the hip.
Am I missing something??
Thanks,
Rod

I'm thinking if you want to adjust the hip and have the figure not completely rotate, you should turn IK on so that the feet stay put where they are.

What Laurie said is correct. If Inverse Kinematics are off, translating/rotating the hip is the same as doing it to the BODY. Everything goes :)
So if you want to tilt her hip, turn IK on. OR tilt her, and tilt legs and abdomen the opposite way. Whatever you prefer :)
The Hip is the main body part of Poser. It's the one that controls the orientation in Poser space and everything :)

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.

Yes, you'll want to turn on IK. Go to Figure - Use Inverse Kinematics and check left and right foot. You could also check her hands if you want them locked.

Yep, that's my vote.

OK - I figured it was something simple I'd missed.... I'll look at IK when I get home tonight (I'm 'supposed' to be working right now ;-O). Thanks, everyone!

So the hips control the universe, eh? I could go somewhere really bad with that, but this is a family show...... ;-)
