Hi,

you have any idea about the rate percentage of Vue 5,6,7 users version?
Do you think, there are so much users by older Vue versions?

Ciao, Luigi.

Thanks to everybody, for reply...

but in my question I mean, how is splitted the Vue versions by users.

For example...

Vue5  10%
Vue6  30%
Vue7  60%

What do you think about?

Ciao, Luigi.

Sorry for my english!

I'd say impossible for anyone here to answer!
If you really need to know, asking at e-on would prolly get you a better answer than here!

I'm using Infinity 7.4 and I get the feeling I will be for a good while to come unless e-on does something really special in ver 8. Personally I think e-on are moving a little too fast as they are not fixing bugs as good as they used to in previous version.

7.5 infinite. Supposedly 8 too, but my maintenance contract which was supposed to include Vue 8 runs out next month. Maybe I should learn Carrara.:(

ShawnDriscoll posted Tue, 06 October 2009 at 11:14 PM

7.5 Infinite.  Will be skipping 8 and wait for Infinite 9 if there is one.

7.4 infinite here. Time will tell if I'll go 8 or skip it

Nice question :)
I'm on Vue 7.4 (no latest beta update, still waiting for not-beta stage, and of course Vue8)
IMHO this topic should be created as a poll so that results can be seen with more perceptibility.

I have Carrara and Hexagon (still learning those critters) and use them exclusively to create models (cars, ships, spacecraft, furniture, structures etc) for import into Vue.  Both are extremely powerful engines for model creation and they have superior export qualities eg .obj, Max etc.  In my opinion, landscaping is better in VUE BUT model building is what Carrara and Hexagon are all about and well worth learning (learning curve is not too bad in either).

The difference between Carrara and Hexagon-in Hexagon there are easier ways to create models (after you learn how to do them), but there is no rendering function and no landscaping.  Carrara has land, sea, and air scapes and models plus Poser importing and you can render in Carrara.

Vue 6...... for ever, unless E-On fixes the bugs that are still in V6, but that will never happen. E-On is moving so fast that they've forgotten how to release a stable version and I'm done with paying for bug fixes.

To answer your question...... going by the posts:

Vue 7 92%
Vue 6 8%
Vue 5 0%

I haven't taken the double users in account.

The "%" values for Vue are going to be the same as for any other program that has different version numbers.  It's the nature of things.

You couldn't pay me to use VUE 7....  Not after the outrageous price hike and the incremental .5 upgrading extortion from e-on's sales staff and the like.  The Maintenance Plan is complete BS!!!

I use Vue 6.66.  The time when e-on sold it's soul to the Devil.  It's buggy but I know most of the work arounds.

E-on should be ashamed of themselves for their rip off buisness model.

I remember a time when this forum was full ideas and inspiration.  It seems there are a lot less users overall.  We got wise to the scam upgrade policies of E-on.  It left a bad taste in a lot of people's minds.  I think the user base has droppped significantly.

If the truth makes you tired why post a reply?  Seems pretty lame and intolerant.

Hey fellas, let's keep it "on topic" and civil, wouldn't want to have to lock it down and take any other action necessary.
Cheers.

CobraEye

A couple of things to note.

Vue Infinite and XStream are not meant as hobbyist applications, they are aimed at professional studios.

Professional applications sometimes have extremely expensive upgrade or renewal costs.  For example, the web filtering software we use costs around £5,500 to renew each year
Our corporate antivirus solution costs around £6,500 for maintenance each year and don't get me started on how much it costs to upgrade, somewhere around £17,000 last time I looked
Compared to that, Vue Infinite is ridiculously cheap to upgrade.

It's not the truth, it's your opinion which I don't share - deal with it

Update costs and prices for software can look different for different people. No need to use strong words because of that.

Back to the topic, please.
