I'm sure I used to be able to successfully use the Display command "paste onto background" to paste a picture of a selected object onto my background pic and then render and see the result. This option let you build up a picture by adding the renders of objects instead of many actual objects
At the moment the bitmap of this object is only visible in Preview mode and is not there when the scene is rendered.
I can "paste into background" perfectly Ok in Preview mode but a render will destroy them..
Hope I'm clear enough for you all on this..
I've tried all variations of choices ! With and without first having a background pic, then choosing various options under Render Over. And Render option variables..I think I've tried it all...
Any hints?

Do you have 'Render with background' selected in your render settings?

As I said above, I have tried all options.
The background picture renders perfectly but the "Pasteonto background" bitmaps only show in the preview window and will not render.
Anyone please???

Is the pasted onto background image even saved with the file? I've never done that, but I'd guess that it isn't saved to firefly's temp folder (because it's no image with a filename) and thus not rendered.

Thanks Dizzi,
If I remember rightly ( and that's quite a task !) it was saved along with the background pic if any.
If no other background pic was imported then it was saved as some odd variation of ascii code. with a jpeg prefix.

It mentions among other things:
The nice thing about pasting is that you can build up a large crowd of people using only one figure in the document window at a time. **Just pose the figure, paste it on the background, then move it (using the camera controls!) to its new position. Then change whatever you have to change-- clothes, hair, coloration, etc., pose the figure in its new position, render it, and paste it on the background.
