**Rocketship Software Announces New Decimal Version Licensing for PzDB**

Now you can Buy PzDB 1.1 for Only 34.95!

Oct 7,  2009

Rocketship Software today announced a new Decimal Version Licensing option for its PzDB Poser Content Database product. Under the new license users can purchase PzDB 1.1 for only $34.95 US.

Previously, PzDB had only been available under a “whole number” version license for $64.95 US. Under that License, purchasers of any version of PZDB 1 receive free upgrades to all versions of PzDB up to 2.0 (all the licensed users of 1.0 received free upgrades to 1.1 etc). This product will still be available, although now renamed “PzDB 1.x Upgradeable License.” Current owners of this license will continue to receive free upgrades as advertised.

The new PzDB 1.1 Single Version License entitles the purchaser to use PzDB 1.1 indefinitely. When PzDB 1.2 eventually is released* users will have the option of purchasing that license or continuing to use PzDB 1.1. Single Version License users will still receive any patches to 1.1 that are released between 1.1 and 1.2. The current build of PzDB is 1.10010a.

*PzDB 1.2 is currently in the planning stage, no firm feature set has been selected, and development has not begun. This is to say, Rocketship Software is not planning the release of PzDB 1.2 any time soon.

“The new license makes PzDB much easier to buy and provides our customers with more options while maintaining the value of our current license holders. We think it’s a win-win for everybody,” said Ben Margolis, PzDB Project Leader for Rocketship Software.

PzDB is available in both 1.1 Single Version and 1.x Upgradable licenses from Rocketship Software (www.rocketshipsoftware.com /pzdb) or at Renderosity.com and ContentParadise.com.

I guess the "value" of the new license option will depend on the future upgrade pricing for additional increments. $34.95 for v 1.1, then another $34.95 to move to v1.2 ends up being extremely pricey, especially when considering each increment up to v 2.0. If we're talking, $34.95 for v 1.1 then say $5 per increment... that would seem more reasonable. I guess we'll have to wait and see when more info is available, or v 1.2 is released, whichever comes first.
