Hey guys, ive just downloaded all my updates and DS3 standard, Is there and easy way to go with content tranfer or do I have to unstall ds2 , install DS3 and the reinstall all my Daz content into DS3. I know kind of a basic question but I thought mabe someone has a quick update style way to do this.

dont un-install ds2 or its content directory. You can copy the file names CONTENT in the reources dierctory of DS2 to DS3 and it will see all content or just do search for new content in DS3 on the right directory and it should work ok

Ok so have both versions installed at the same time , copy and paste the content files over to ds3 and then uninstall ds2 when copy is completed.
If you search for new content and just bring up the ds2 content directory in ds3 do you have to leave ds2 on the HD afterwards?

ok in the resource directory is 1 file named content. you can copy that to the base direcotry of DS3. That means also the content structure is copied (so easy). The content STAYS in the same place so not moved. Of course specify in DS3 were to look for the new-present content. For now I would keep DS2 also (i did) since some tools dont work yet in DS3 and if you dont need the disk space there is no harm.

Gotcha..I have about 12 gb of a 60 gb HD left so Im trying to conserve space for sure, 75% of my content is stored in Poser 5 runtime so i"ll just need to repoint daz to it but I do have alot daz installers as well ...HMMM well thanks for the tips.

Yes, don't, for any reason, copy your runtimes to a new location! :) This will save you hours of headaches! Just do your normal runtime setup by going to
Edit>Preferences>Directories>DAZ Studio Formats and click on Add and point it to your content.
TO find your poser content, do the same, but when it gets to the drop down in Directories, use Poser Formats and hit Search. :)

So JenX ( your name really gets around alot here, Just got out of the Poser/Antonia thread where there was several mentions of you name). ....so DS3 set ups a little different than DS2?
Ill keep in mind -Poser formats to search for Poser Dir.

Ooh, now I'm curious, lol, I'm bein' talked about, LOL. I'm a Mod here and the Poser forum (and writer's and Copyright) ;)
DS3 setup is exactly the same. The only difference is, DS3 needs to know where you previously installed your stuff in DS2. That's the only thing. It's just like if you installed P8, and wanted to point external runtimes to it, you'd have to set that up, too ;)

Haha..heres how it went..odf (dude that modeled Antonia) got married and somone was asking if he married you because you guys both got married on the same day and it seemed like a suspicious coincidence..I thought it was funny for some reason. Im not sure if that violates any copywrights but I have been wrong b4.
DS3- cool , Ill get to work then and once I have it all transfered over then ill take 2 out.
JenX posted Thu, 22 October 2009 at 4:55 PM
LOL, you know, someone mentioned that in chat when I went down to get married. I didn't say anything in the forum, but I made sure to post a pic in snapshots (with my larger-than-life-sweater!). I'm pretty sure you can mention what goes on in other threads w/o violating copyright ;)
Awesome :) Keep us posted, and let us know if you need any more help ;)

I have Poser 7, DAZ Studio 2.3 and DAZ Studio 3 pro all accessing the DAZ Studio 2.3 content runtime. No need to move anything just go to edit preferences directorys and add the old content directory to DAZ V3 as a Poser format import directory.

I did run into one snag though .....I redownloaded the figure set up tools plugin , Im on a computer thats not connected to the internet, I copied and pasted the serial codes from Daz but the DS3 will not apply the codes to register them.....?????? Im lost at this one!
RHaseltine posted Wed, 28 October 2009 at 4:16 PM
Make sure you are using the codes for the DS3 version (one code for the set) not the DS2 (one code per plugin). They are listed separately on your account page (the DS3 codes won't be in the email if you bought before DS3 was released).
wespose posted Wed, 28 October 2009 at 5:13 PM
The DS3 code was the one I pasted in ( I noticed it has more digits or 4 letters at the end of it), one code for the set and not the one code per plugin- which I tried afterwards to put each in from preferences / register plugins (which didnt work either) . The one code for the set, then hit Apply and DS3 just blinks and the goes back to the screen to put in the codes without excepting them....its almost like its waiting for me to put in the codes for DS3 advance to register the shader plugins set also which I dont have.
wespose posted Fri, 30 October 2009 at 5:46 PM
Dooh..disregard last post...I left a digit out or something when I pasted it...went throught fine..all hooked up now.....so does Uberenvirnoment 2 and ubersurface time out as well ,from the Installed Daz studio content directory. I dont see plugin registration codes needed?

Glad to be a help. Happy to hear it was soemthing so simple.
RHaseltine posted Sat, 31 October 2009 at 7:40 AM
Yes, the shaders time out - they are part of DS3 Advanced, so they would be activated if you bought that and entered its serial number.
