I'm trying to get something going in the stickies--everyone is avoiding my thread like the plague, I made two morphs of Alyson.   The first one is a little frumpy, the other isn't too bad.

Granted, I just had poser 8 for about two weeks.  I can post more if you want.  Jan

here's a morph i did of alyson for a project i'm working on. all the morphs i did came from within poser 8. this is one of the big strengths i see in poser 8 is the power to make very original characters all from within the program itself.

If you go to the gallery you can search for Alyson pics. 3Dream has done some good things with her.

Could somebody PLEEEAAAASE fix her short arms ? I mean not just dialing the x -scale ,I mean scaling and reediting the joints.

TZORG posted Sat, 05 December 2009 at 9:40 AM

But that would break all her long-sleeve shirts!

There's more than one right?

 Long sleeved shirts?

You mean Poser figures can.. gasp... WEAR CLOTHES?

Seriously though... The native figures deserve more love.

I made a (commercial) texture and morph for Alyson andI'm on and off working for one for Ryan. Thing is, things for ANY male character generally sells rather sh...ty and things for the native Poser males even worse.

But Ryan is a nice character with a lot of nice morphs for sure. I really don't know why I haven't posted any pics of him yet. It didn't even take me long to make him into Snape (ok that's a sort of in-joke I guess.. I tend to make ANY Poser fiogure - including any female who's got the necessary male morphs - into Severus Snape at some point... that's what obsession will do to you!)

I haven't used Alyson much (beyond making that character for her) because I generally don't use females much. But I can vouch for Ryan. He's a very nice mesh!

i've extended the arms and they work well in poser. when the arms are extended it looks weird to me unless u make the hands bigger, but then if u load the the model into daz u get these ugly square fat hands that seem to be unfixable in daz.

I thought these didn't work in DS at all due to the Poser 8 rigging additions.

That's what I thought also, P8 characters are not backward compatible.

vilters posted Sun, 06 December 2009 at 8:37 AM

For Alyson use collars at X=102 Shoulders at X=110 Forearms at x= 120 Thens he is realy nice. To lower the breasts on Aly Medium Res, make them smaller, use the file included. Change txt to zip. You will find 4 morphs. BR-coll, BL-Coll, BChest and Babdomen.

It should get you sowhere like this; On my home PC , I made a full body morph for her, so one dial to lower and make them smaller. (or anything in between)  have fun, and a nice W-End

now when i try to import into daz it seems to work. even the armhand difference. what doesn't work is custom morphs and poses and new poser 8 morphs don't work. the same happens if i import into carrara 6 pro.

poser 8 characters are not compatible;
only work in p8, due to the "new" rigging system.

with a little more experimentation i find when u try to pose a lot of simple things like legs they won't work correctly either.

Can anyone tell me how to save a created pose into the pose library of Poser8? The manual seems to cite stuff from Poser7 which is not available in Poser8:

"Click the down arrow to the right of the Poses title at the top 2. of the Poses Library. This opens the Library Options menu. From this menu, choose Add New Category."

There is no "Add New Category" option in Poser8.

HELP! I've just spent 3 hrs creating a killer pose for Jessica and I don't want to lose it.

See page 113 in the Poser Reference Manual, re Creating Subfolders and Adding Items to the Library

alantun posted Fri, 11 December 2009 at 2:12 AM

Nah, P113 onward is all about saving face morphs, Deecey. I want to save a whole figure POSE I've created into the pose library.

DCArt posted Fri, 11 December 2009 at 2:24 AM

Just making sure ... are you reading the Tutorial Manual (Help > Poser Tutorial Manual) or the Reference Manual (Help > Poser Reference Manual)?  Page 113 in the Tutorial Manual is about the face room. Page 113 in the Reference Manual is about the Library.

I'd try to explain, but the screen shots in the manual will probably help. The Library sections in the Poser Tutorial Manual haven't been updated yet, which is why I suspect you are looking at it rather than the Ref manual.

EDIT

Well, I'll give it a try anyway ... highlight the Poses category icon at the top, and then select the Library folder to which you want to add a new folder or pose.

--- to add a new folder, click the Create New Folder icon at the bottom of the library palette. It looks like a folder with a plus sign on it

--- to add the pose, click the Add to Library icon at the bottom of the library palette. It's just a plus sign.

These icons will NOT appear until you select a library folder in the Poses category.

Thanks muchly, Deecey. I was referring to the Tutorial which is integral to my new Poser8 application. I've just followed your instructions - and it worked! Big hugs.

estherau posted Fri, 11 December 2009 at 5:27 AM

I know it is only a small point (and I could do it myself), but if the P8 characters had their clothes that were Cr2s in the figures folder, the clothes that are dynamic in the props folder in a folder called dynamic clothes, and the clothes that are props that are handbags and wristwatches in the props folder in a folder called accessories that would help to make them more user friendly.

Thanks also, estherau. The problem was I made the pose before adding clothes. I've now opened a new file, imported the standard Jessie, clothed her, and then added my killer pose from the Pose file. Great, but now I have to wrestle with the Cloth room to make them conform to the pose!

It's fun.....in a way ;o)

this is a little related to poser 8 characters. i just tried creating a new face with alyson casual. the one where she's dressed and they tell me it's not a character the face room understands.

Sorry, cmcc - I'm the last person capable of solving other's problems, being struggling with my own. Hope more experienced renderers can help.

Plutom posted Mon, 21 December 2009 at 8:52 AM

Cmcc, I get that message too, all the other versions work nicely with the face room though.  You can do the face room  once with that character.  However the default face is that of a man and working it is more difficult than the others.  If you try and do it again, then you are going to have problems.  Jan
