I want to assemble a vertical cross by rendering 6 square images of my environment.  What camera setting in mm do I use to get a 90 degree field of view for each image?

(bagginsbill's probe setup is too large for the space Im shooting)

I forgetting formula now, but nomograph I keep for FOV says 18mm is 90 degree.

For a rectilinear lens (that is, one that minimizes fisheye-style distortion), the formula is:

FOV = 2 arctan (x / (2 f)), where x is the diagonal length of the film.

There's a converter here .
