Hi,I took the plunge and upgraded to Bryce 6 but it seems feebly slow!
Everything seems to take an age,mat lab, terrain editor, sky lab,the whole lot!
Beginning to wish I hadn't bothered!
Is it just me and my computer?Or has Daz cocked up what was an excellent programme?
Cheers! (but disgruntled) Jed.

My Bryce 6 seems to run at a good speed...hmmm...

Mine also..but it does depend on the PC specs, and how render intensive the textures are..

Upgraded?
So, you are saying B6 is feebly slow compared to your B5/B5.5?
That shouldn't be.

My Bryce runs better after I upgraded to 6,1
have you checked to see if there are any patches or minor fixes you didn't get?

If you have dual core make sure you set the priority setting to high (under render settings drop-down menu) . You'll have to do this every time you render. But like always, complexity increases render times.

I see render options tjohn, but where is the render settings to set the priority? Would be nice since I'm running dual-core.
Thanks in advance. EW

got it erosia! didn't keep my pointer over it long enough to see the hyperlink, but i see the priority setting and that's what we needed! thanks!!

Thanks guys but the render times are OK!,its when I want to reposition or alter scale.
I do a quick check with a plop render,not quite right?hit the rotate..no response,still rendering!
Same for size and position tools, got to click away to stop rendering before the tools respond!
I'm certain that I didn't have with 5 unless there were dozens of trees or massive models!
Cheers! Jed.

Sounds like you have your wireframe options set too high!
Right side of the screen - the RESOLUTION icon. Set this to about 16 for static and selected items.
This always happens when you have a lot of objects in your scene.

Sometimes when the render line is in a very intensive location in the scene (example: while calculating a glass object within a volume surrounding) Bryce is slow to respond to the halt.
I have discovered that to do a plop render, you don't even have to wait for the first pass at rendering to complete. Just click the render button after the render has started and "plop" out the section you need.
After re-reading your post, are you saying you are moving things without halting the render? I didn't think you could do that. I always halt the render (click render button or click keyboard esc twice)
