I currently have Poser 5. When contacting smithmicro they stated that of course Poser 5 was no longer supported. I'm hoping that someone else has had this happen. Every time I try to apply a piece of clothing poser crashes. I can apply hair and V4 from it but just not clothing. I have updated my poser and video card. Also, deleted the library and pref files. I'm not sure what more to do. I bought clothes awhile back and still have not been able to use them. :(
Thanks!!

If you open the clothing's CR2 file in a text editor what version number is indicated at or about line number 4?

Did you load service pack 1 for Poser 5 ? O ran P5 for years and found it pretty stable, just deleted the prefs files when it went persistantly bad.
You can try changing your settings to use factory settings n but if it starts you should be OK.
V4 is actually NOT recommended for P5, there are some joint issues with it.
Is it all clothes or just specific ones ?

**PhilC: **Looks like the clothing i'm trying to add is either a 5 or 6
markschum: Looks like service pack 4. I bought P5 a year or so back and didn't use it untill about 6 months ago. I've put it to factory settings and still didn't work.. well at least start up factory settings.
Mostly all the clothing does. I have two outfits that don't crash.
thanks u two :)

I'd bet that the piece of clothing you're trying to load has been setup to be "SuperConforming" to V4, so the crash will be happening because P5 can't cope with the ERC code that implements this.

If so, nothing can't be done i'm sure untill i can upgrade :(

You should be able to edit out the bits of ERC if that's what's causing the problem, but without knowing what the item(s) that are giving you trouble are, it's impossible to confirm one way or the other.

I would contact the vendors and askabout compatibility.

Unfortunately I have neither of those.
Steampunk does mention P5 in the requirements, so I'd definitely follow that one up with the vendor.
