o__O oh....okie nvm then sorry i bothered you guys

It's a pretty generic looking lighting, that's the problem. He'd know for sure though.
If I was forced to make a guess, I'd say it uses indirect lighting in some form or another - probably in Poser 8

Don't feel like you bothered anyone. You made an honest attempt to find out if the lighting for the scene can be easily determined. I would go with FrankT's suggestion to ask Vince Bagna directly over at RuntimeDNA. It appears that there is no specific light set used, a generic setup. One infinite light, one IBL, shadowcatcher for the ground shadows emulating the shadowing found in the background which appears to be a photo. There might even be a fill light to the right. If Poser 8 was used, then IDL may have been incorporated during the render.

Just FYI "Vincebagna" is a lighting expert who has taken time to learn about IDL properly and he also uses Vue in his work
he apparently uses no canned "light sets"
he even does tutorials on it

Great link, wolf. The same tute can also be found @ RDNA.

When it comes to lighting this guy "gets it"
A skill I highly respect!!
Cheers

Vince has done a lot of work on lighting and it certainly shows

can you recreate poser 8 light settings in poser 7 which is what i got =)
hborre posted Tue, 24 November 2009 at 3:21 PM
IBL can be easily recreated in P7; IDL cannot. There is a basic form of Global Illumination present in P7 but it can only be accessed through Python Script. It is fairly rudimentary and is not as refined as P8's IDL. It would not give you the same results.

And it renders about the same speed as a glacier on tranquillisers.

Oh blush i haven't seen this thread sooner :)
As i emailed to akura some time ago, i used the HDR as probe light from the mec4d light set linked above with one infinite light. This was rendered in PoserPro, so no Indirect Illumination at this time :)
The background is not a photo but a Stonemason set. The character and background have been rendered in one shot, so no composition, only a big use of dof in post with DOFPro in Photoshop.
Now i have IDL with P8, but at this time i was trying to simulate it in PPro :)

i understand now =) i love the effect you got from doing that =) ever thought of releasing lights that do all of that automatically? that would be worth the money =)

Unfortunately, there is no perfect light set that will match every renders :(
You can set up lights that goes perfectly with a scene you're working on, but if you build another scene and want to add the same light set to illuminate it, there is few chance that it will match this scene too, you always have to tweak a light here or something there.
So i don't think an "automatic light system" could be of some use.
I have bought some light sets, but it was always because i was interested in something in particular in these sets, such as a probe map or a HDR one :)
