In POSER:
File Menu >Edit>General Preferences>Interface Tab - Check TABLET MODE.
I stick with the mouse.
I use the Wacom (Graphire 3) for general computer use and it is available when I kick into Photoshop.

Same here. I rarely use my Wacom. Navigating with the mouse seems good enough for me.

using a wacom tablet seems to best to prevent carpal tunnel while working long hours in Poser
and it also uses the sliders in the parameters tab much faster compared to the mouse .

It's best mainly I find for working in Photoshop and ZBrush. A VERY valuable tool for sculpting and painting, but Poser no so much.

the Wacom Pen is a Speed tool. But Poser's interface imho is so Clunky (and Sensitive in some cases) i never use it. The Pen would be like letting the Road Runner loose in a China shop.

Thankyou all for the responses so far. I think I asked the wrong question. I actually bought the Wacom and am using it now. So far l have found that with practice; it is much better at all the basic things in Poser, at least for me, than the mouse I was using. That probably says more about my lack of skill than the merits of the machine. I should have asked "once you take the plunge, what's the best way use it"?
Thank you again.

I never use the mouse, always the Wacom (A5 size), for any APP including Poser.
I bought one indeed for Carpal Tunnel and for Photoshop.
I have the tablet on one side of my keyboard and a 3D mouse on the other side. Camera motion is too sharp on the pen (hence the 3D mouse), but dragging objects etc. is much faster with a pen than with a mouse.
Wacom and 3DConnexion: the winning team for me.
