Nobody tried this yet? I rushed to download and install. Background rendering is included, but apart from that nothing seems to be at all radical.

This is just the beta version currently.  One test to perform would be the gamma correction and IDL combination in renders.  This has been an issue with P8 and it would be interesting if it will be resolved with PP2010 version.

No, I don't think so. I believe it's the usual beta testers plus the folks who have both Poser Pro and P8 licenses.

thinkcooper,
Is there going to be a beta tester forum for the beta testers (like PhilC usually runs when you test for him) or are we just working from this forum?
I hope there is a forum or specific threads here. Beta testing is also an incredible opportunity to really learn the software particularly things i would not try on my own.
So far, for me, PoserPro2010 is AMAZING.
I find it fast, reliable and very responsive. Great software and even much faster to work in and render in than Poser 8.

thinkcooper ( ) posted Mon, 21 December 2009 at 2:03 PM

Thanks for the feedback lululee. Unfortunately, we don't have our old CP forums in place to be able to host discussions. Being that this is a public beta, we see very little issue with it being discussed either broadly or specifically here, or RDNA, Deviant Art, CGsociety or on the Daz forums. It's beta of course - so things will inevitably be broken, but the reports have been hugely helpful so far.

I still need to get the known issues uploaded onto my blog post that is linked to on the program's main page. There are a few commonly showing up in your beta reports. At least that will help stem the flow of those that have popped up commonly for a few different users. I hope to have that list up before the holiday. I'm a slacker if I go beyond that point.

The blog post:
http://poser8.smithmicro.com/cgi-bin/blosxom.cgi/2009/12/10#poser_pro_2010_beta

This is an experiment for us, and so far, it's been a great one. Thanks to all that are taking part in this!

I can render much bigger scenes than I could before (in poser 8, 7, posre pro old)  and poser still remains responsive with a big scene and this is not with background rendering.
I will try background rendering for a scene that has chokedposer pro 2010
Love esther
PS it is much faster and snappier than previous poser iterations.

Esther, you think it is fast now. The render engine for Mac's is 32 bit in background per my activity monitor. 64 bit should be even better in regards to scene size and memory management an hopefully faster yet :)

Hmmm, I have valid serial numbers, and I entered them correctly (just as they are shown in my "Help>About" windows, but the beta download page just gives me error messages (I used capitals, dashes, all zeros and no capital "i"s).

Is anyone else having a problem getting approved?

I have the same opinion, they want me to report bugs, but so far, I haven't find any. It works extremely well and fast. I noticed that the version is 8.03  (and some more digits) so it has to be better than poser 8sr2.
I haven't done any extreme things like using the set-up room and the joint editor, so perhaps I can find there some bugs, but like I said nothing so far. IDL works great, the library works good, and it's fast.

Best regards,

Bopper.

How much should cost Poser Pro 2010 ? I ask this because in order to get into the beta testers group you need to buy both Poser 8 and Poser Pro, so I guess Poser Pro 2010 will cost more then 750 USD ?

Believable3D ( ) posted Sat, 26 December 2009 at 12:24 PM

Do you mean, retail price, or if you went through that purchase process? Shouldn't be that much either way. You buy Poser Pro, then buy P8 as a sidegrade/upgrade, and the cost of P8 upgrade gets deducted from the cost of the PP2010 upgrade when it comes out.

Believable3D ( ) posted Sat, 26 December 2009 at 12:25 PM

I should add that being part of the beta team isn't likely to be worth that much to you. In your position, I would just buy P8, and then decide whether to upgrade to PP2010 when it came out. I think that would involve a bit less $$$.
