Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 09 3:46 am)
No, I don't think so. I believe it's the usual beta testers plus the folks who have both Poser Pro and P8 licenses.

can anyone (who has read all the readme EULA etc) clarify if we are allowed to talk about poser pro 2010 or not?
Love esther
I aim to update it about once a month. Oh, and it's free!
Yes, I did not see any secrecy agreement either.

ps it does rock!

I just wish I could use it. My download got corrupted somehow and I dunno how to redownload, though I PM'ed Cooper. We'll see.

I think you just go to that link posted near the top of this topic, and click the link that you would like to beta test, then put in your serial numbers

Well, that's where I originally downloaded. I'm just kind of afraid of breaking the space-time continuum if I try to dl from there with the same serial #s again.

I am pretty sure it won't hurt at all.

thinkcooper,
Is there going to be a beta tester forum for the beta testers (like PhilC usually runs when you test for him) or are we just working from this forum?
I hope there is a forum or specific threads here. Beta testing is also an incredible opportunity to really learn the software particularly things i would not try on my own.
So far, for me, PoserPro2010 is AMAZING.
I find it fast, reliable and very responsive. Great software and even much faster to work in and render in than Poser 8.

Thanks for the feedback lululee. Unfortunately, we don't have our old CP forums in place to be able to host discussions. Being that this is a public beta, we see very little issue with it being discussed either broadly or specifically here, or RDNA, Deviant Art, CGsociety or on the Daz forums. It's beta of course - so things will inevitably be broken, but the reports have been hugely helpful so far.
I still need to get the known issues uploaded onto my blog post that is linked to on the program's main page. There are a few commonly showing up in your beta reports. At least that will help stem the flow of those that have popped up commonly for a few different users. I hope to have that list up before the holiday. I'm a slacker if I go beyond that point.
The blog post:

This is an experiment for us, and so far, it's been a great one. Thanks to all that are taking part in this!

I can render much bigger scenes than I could before (in poser 8, 7, posre pro old) and poser still remains responsive with a big scene and this is not with background rendering.
I will try background rendering for a scene that has chokedposer pro 2010
Love esther
PS it is much faster and snappier than previous poser iterations.
I aim to update it about once a month. Oh, and it's free!
And don't the reflections on shiny floors look awesome! I don't remember noticing this in my previous poser versions but it may have been there.

Esther, you think it is fast now. The render engine for Mac's is 32 bit in background per my activity monitor. 64 bit should be even better in regards to scene size and memory management an hopefully faster yet :)

yes, we need to talk with someone who has a 64 bit mac. My macpro is a bit too old.

Hmmm, I have valid serial numbers, and I entered them correctly (just as they are shown in my "Help>About" windows, but the beta download page just gives me error messages (I used capitals, dashes, all zeros and no capital "i"s).
Is anyone else having a problem getting approved?
lmk
Probably edited for spelling, grammer, punctuation, or typos.
Poser Pro 2010 is working so well for me that I'm starting to think Smith Micro put up a link to the final version instead of the beta :)
I have the same opinion, they want me to report bugs, but so far, I haven't find any. It works extremely well and fast. I noticed that the version is 8.03 (and some more digits) so it has to be better than poser 8sr2.
I haven't done any extreme things like using the set-up room and the joint editor, so perhaps I can find there some bugs, but like I said nothing so far. IDL works great, the library works good, and it's fast.
Best regards,
Bopper.
-How can you improve things when you don't make mistakes?
Has anyone else been using the Hair Room? It may be my computer acting up, but PP2010 seems to be giving some difficulty in retaining settings.

I've had crashes with extremely big scenes and sometimes after crashing I have lost all my external runtimes and have to reattach them.

yayy. I hope this means PP7 will come down in price in time for my birthday.

NoelCan - I had a dream about you last night (not a joke). I dreamt you modelled a crate of tomatoes like one might see at a market or a farm.
I don't even need anything like that, nor do I really know you except for your posts. You probably don't even model. what an odd dream.

Hi Esther. Sounds MUCH more like a NIGHTMARE to Me..!!
Nope, dont do any modeling. I could recommend a dream therapist but it might be a bit far for You to travel..
To market, to market
went My Brother Jim
Somebody threw a tomato at him
Tomatoes are soft, and they don't bruise the skin.
This one Killed Jim
it was wrapped in a tin...!!
Take care, and have FUN...
they look very similar to my dream, minus the tomatoes of course

I dunno - youare rather good looking there - kind of regal and strong. I like your stripes. But who is that funny looking dude next to you walking along.

Do you mean, retail price, or if you went through that purchase process? Shouldn't be that much either way. You buy Poser Pro, then buy P8 as a sidegrade/upgrade, and the cost of P8 upgrade gets deducted from the cost of the PP2010 upgrade when it comes out.

I should add that being part of the beta team isn't likely to be worth that much to you. In your position, I would just buy P8, and then decide whether to upgrade to PP2010 when it came out. I think that would involve a bit less $$$.

Nobody tried this yet? I rushed to download and install. Background rendering is included, but apart from that nothing seems to be at all radical.
