This has been haunting me for a week already and I thought it was my mistake, but I found it was actually a Poser bug.

Heres how to cause it:

  1. Open Poser 8. The starting figure will be Andy. Thats fine. Keep it there. We'll cause the bug with one of SM's figures.

  2. Click the Morphing Tool, then click the tab Create. The settings I used to create the bug were: Check [X] Pull, [X] Surface, [X] Average Normals, [X] Accumulate, [X] Stroke, [X] Display Brush, [X] Work with current morphs. Uncheck all the rest. Radius: 0.0150. Magnitude: 0.2. Most likely it happens with thousands of different settings. But thats what I used, which are the default settings (at least on my Poser).

3) Now, brush up a morph onto Andy. Make sure you spam different body parts. Spam from right hand to left hand for example, all the way thru the arms and chest. Don't need to be big morphs. Just enough for you to see them.

  1. Click "Save a copy as..." on the Morphing Tool window. Pick a name. Mor01 for example. After you save it, hit Zero Morph on the Morphing Tool window. Now close the Morphing Tool window.

  2. Now, on top of the main dials where it shows the currently selected object, click the little downwards arrow and select Body. Now on the dials, under "Other", set Mor01 to 1 to test your morph. Verify that it works fine. Then reset it to 0.

6) Save your scene, and open its saved file again. No need to restart Poser.

  1. Now go back to step 2 on this list and brush up another morph onto your loaded Andy. Spam from hand to hand again. Then save it as Mor02 this time.

  2. When you close your Morphing Tool and select Body again on the dials, go once more under "Other" but now set Mor02 to 1. See if your morph bugs out. If it bugs out, try to close Poser. See if it will crash when you close it.
