Have just got round to installing this today.

Everything seems to be running smoothly, but there's still one little niggle - the "set preferred state" does not keep the chosen tool; keeps going back to the twist tool when you open a new file.

Not a great problem, but I'd like it fixed sometime.

so this is a new SR version? did they fix the reflections with IDL?

NoelCan posted Sun, 03 January 2010 at 11:45 PM

Don't know,   would be good if there was something from SM..!

There was for SR's 1 and 2.

To Me,   this means there has now been a total of 4 (four)  Fixes for Poser 8.

Yes, and no explanation what was fixed.....

[sarcasm] I believe they fixed the library refresh speed. You see, I complained that it ran too good! So this new SR slows it down superbly! /[sarcasm]    :o)

Actually, I'm not 100% convinced that the SR2.1 is what's causing the refresh lag. Still investigating....

One thing that the read me located in the installer mentioned was an improved speed on IDL rendering.

I had refresh lag before I installed 2.1.

SR 2 was the improved speed. SR 2.1 fixed an issue with Hidden Objects that affected Cloth Room

Why didn't they just put that in a readme, it's very odd to release a service release not telling what it fixes. I'm glad I now know, been wondering if I do need it, but since I never use the cloth room, I'll leave this one alone, avoiding the risk it will mess stuff up.

Due to the childish TOS changes, I'm not allowed to link to my other products outside of Rendo anymore :(

Food for thought.....

M'kay.... here's something NOT to do.
I ran a system restore (vista64bit) back to the day before I installed sr2.1.  Now Poser8 is at version 8.0.0.10199, according to the opening title screen (which has an extra layer of text added to the existing text listing the people involved in the making process). The odd thing is that the library still depicts larger icons, only the icon preference menu is once again removed. The biggest problem is that the whole UI is basically non-responsive now. I say 'basically' because it should never take a quad-core driven interface more than 2 minutes to respond to a click ...at least ;0)

well... I know how my Saturday is going to be now.... reinstalling Poser8  (Pfft!...think I'd rather have herpes)...

Try deleting the Preferences... They can cause issues if they get corrupted....

NOTE: The readme should be in the SR 2.1 now... It was an oversight, but installing SR 2.1 should not change anything else other than the Cloth Room issue.

One thing I have noticed is with many Security Software and Windows 7 (as well as Vista) It is better to Replace your Preferences when installing the update. I do not know why, but it normally is the Preferences that need to be deleted when you update. This is not true for everyone, so it may be some custom setting can not be applied after the Update and that causes the issues.

This was not an issue for MAC users, until Snow Leopard and now I see a lot of Snow Leopard Users encountering this and the solution works for them.

Another option is to update in Safe or Diagnostic Mode. This will help prevent any corruption due to other processes.

Contact Support.. (Attn: John in the Subject) if you still have issues.
