Can anyone point me to a practical application for these in Vue.
Links to one or more of the following would be cool as well.
Tutorial, or image, or explanation of how to in Vue.

I'm not sure Vue uses AO maps to be honest. I know it doesn't render the things (which is mildly annoying sometimes)

Yeah, i knew it didnt render them out at all, and the specular maps that ShaderMapPro/CrazyBump makes i find useful for bumps and Specular at times, but I have yet to find a practical use otherwise for the AO maps themselves.

useful for texturing. Stonemason did a tutorial on hardsurface texturing where he used the AO render to control where dirt/grime/gunge would collect

I know i used to scan over that from time to time but alas since my last crash i cannot find the article. I think it was over at CGTalk, but not 100% certain, loved it though a lot of it is common sense IMHO there are few who match his skills in texturing.
