I checked out IMDb, and I think you're right. He played Barbossa and was also in "Elizabeth the Golden Age. Recent popular hit movies.

Its Anthony Hopkins. He is in a remake of Universal's "Wolfman" this year and made his big screen breakthrough in "A Man for all Seasons".

Hmmm. Could be, but I'm not seeing a strong resemblance. The nose is wrong.

It looks a bit like the guy who played Lancelot in 'King Arthur, the Director's Cut'. Also, there's a very slight resemblance to Alan Rickman when he played the Sheriff of Nottingham opposite Kevin Cosner in that Robin Hood movie.

No maybe's about it, it is Anthony Hopkins. The clues all point to it. The name that means 'wolf' in Gaelic, and the 'a man for all seasons' promo line. The ads for the movie just started running and in them Hopkins is wearing a costume not unlike the one here.

If that's supposed to be any particular celebrity, the creator didn't do a very good job. The closest is Gerard Butler, but even that's a stretch.
Magic_Man posted Wed, 27 January 2010 at 5:11 PM
Gerard Butler? Not even close.
Closest is some love child of Sean Pertwee and Richard E. Grant.
