set a spotlight to cast the light . Play with the angles to get the right beam . You can turn on atmosphere in the material room and do volumetric lights to get the beam effect.

If you really want to make aiming the light easy, place a ball (or whatever from the primitives folder) on the floor, then make it invisible. Next position the spot light outside the window, roughly where yoyu want the sun to appear to be coming from. Lastly, click on "point at" for the spot light and select the ball. All the aiming is done automagically. If it's not at the right place, move either the light or the ball until you like it.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

volumetric lights can be a pain to get right. They dont show unless there is something behind them like a wall. You can fake it by using a primitive cone and scaling it big, and then applying a transparent texture.
