Subject: ? using PointAt on V4's eyes, makes her teeth not move with her

It's a weird thing.  I used the PointAt command on V4's eyeballs (point to main camera) and that part worked great.  But, when I turned her head, her teeth, gums, and tongue didn't move with her.

I tried the PointAt none, to try and reverse the problem, but it didn't work.

Is there a way to recover from this?

I wish there was a keyboard shortcut for the conform-to box, then starting over wouldn't be so painful.

Thanks.

Cheers,ML

What version of Poser are you using?
because Poser 7 and i assume poser 8 as well have the undo option in the Edit menu .... otherwise might be a good idea if you haven't done this already to save your scene before you do the whole Point At part .....

I'm on Poser 7.

Do you need the other head parts to animatable? If not, click on OBJECT menu and "LOCK OBJECT" on them and they shouldn't move from the head after that.

You can edit the "poser.xrc" in "Rutimeui" to add a shortcut for "Conform to...":

find:

<object class="wxMenuItem" name="1475">
<label>&Conform To...</label>
</object>

add an shortcut (here: shift+control+c):  Shift+Ctrl+C

can i do something similar to add a keyboard shortcut to 'zero figure' ?

I looked through the hidden shortcut list and found the one to select body.  "1"
It's sooo handy.

Thanks!

You can use a python script to zero the figure and assign a shortcut to the script...

This used to often happen to me with Poser 7. To cure, switch to the head camera and rotate it. The teeth will pop back. This worked for me...

Stuff like this happens to me all the time in Poser 7 (literally almost every time I use Point At with eyes). Mostly with child props and hair -- they seem to become unparented - they aren't, just Poser acts like they are. The only way I've been able to "fix" it is to close and restart Poser and they are all moving parented properly.

I didn't know you could add your own keyboard shortcuts. Thanks for that!

This has happened to Me once in Poser 8 ..   Just the once,  I had several figures and many props.   I thought I was overloading the scene..!

Thanks Dizzi!

Now I can get rid of the shortcuts to "Restore All" (and finally switch it to "Select All" in the Material Room) and 4-View (who the hell thought of "D" as a shortcut for that?).

Also, speaking of lock object, I'm gonna steal Ctrl+L from the useless and annoying Flyaround Cam (does anyone even use that camera?).

Perhaps we can compile a list of suggested replacements in a new thread and maybe even get it stickied if enough people like it.

A quickie shortcut to Zero Figure would be nice.
And a quickie shortcut to toggle the right leg and left leg Ikeys.

Find a python script that does what you want and add a hotkey for it to the scripts menu.

  1.  Put the script in the scriptsmenu folder in the Poser folder (e.g. C:SomewherePoser 8RuntimePythonposerScriptsScriptsMenu)
  2. Change the filename of the Script: Add ### followed by the combination of SHIFT+ALT+CTRL+Character you want to use (eg. change "myscript.py" to "myscript###Shift+A.py" to run the script by pressing SHIFT+A in Poser (that is, if that shortcut is not already used)
  3. (re)start Poser

I don't use Point at for the eyes anymore.

I use a pose in the freestuff section for the eyes, works better and you have more control.

Fazzel posted Fri, 26 February 2010 at 10:05 AM

Instead of having the eyes point at the camera, I have them point at a prop, such as a ball,
and make the prop invisible.  This gives a lot better control, as moving the ball closer
makes the character look like it is looking at something close up, and moving the ball
up or down or left or right makes the character look in that direction.

I prefer to use the control that comes with V4
