Can someone plz check before I raise a ticket - 8.4 I can no longer use CTRL + RMB to zoom on the previews in both plant editor and when saving objects.
I checked to make sure it's not something on my mc in Vue 7 and that still works as it should

That rotates the object when I try it. Can't find a zoom at all
[edit] zoom is the scroll wheel on its own, rotate is rmb and lmb is drag, no CTRL key needed
gillbrooks posted Thu, 25 February 2010 at 5:26 PM
Zoom has always been crtl + rmb so why change it without telling me grrrr. Can't check at the moment cuz I have a render cooking but Iwill once it's done.
Thanks Frank

OK, well yes I can zoom with the wheel but I should also still be able to do it the other way. I just looked in my operations tab and under Triggers it's definitely got CRTL + RightMB listed for zoom.
If you look on p236 for the plant editor, and function editor p354 it definitely says that I should

weird. There's definitely something funky with this update. Dunno if it's good funky or what though.
Had my first hard crash in ages the other night while doing my last render. I could import the figure fine but every time I reloaded the scene, foom

Yes, you're absolutely right. Very strange goings on with this one

You should make a support ticket with e-on so they can correct that.
I would do it, but I don't have 8.4 yet.because I only have V8 complete and 8.4 for mine is still pending

Vue 8.4 allowed me to assign Right MB to more than one trigger. Maybe some triggers are not all available with each other in certain dialog boxes? Did going back to 8.1 fix the problem? I've never used a Ctrl+Right MB before in Vue.

Anyone see any slow downs with loading pz3's or after rendering anything.
If I render, even in preview it takes ages to shut the render window down, anyone else??

Using Posers materials or Posing inside Vue? Or Poser stuff turned off during import?
thefixer posted Fri, 26 February 2010 at 2:34 AM
Poser materials, but we're not talking big stuff here and I always collapse identical materials and never re-pose inside Vue..

For me, 8.4 is taking a LONG time to import PZ3 files. Out of Memory! Yikes. I have Poser 6. I think I will be going back to 8.0 build 47776 which didn't have any problems with Poser.
thefixer posted Fri, 26 February 2010 at 3:09 AM
Well that's good in that it's not my imagination then. Be best if we both raise a ticket on it then and anyone else who's having the same issue..

Ok. My old naked V3 PZ3s that import just fine into Carrara Pro 5 are bringing Vue Infinite 8.4 to its knees with Out of Memory errors galore. I don't feel like spending the extra EEF money so that E-on might do something about any trouble ticket I report.
I'll just roll back to build 47776 and wait for another update if there is one before 8.5 is for sale. Hopefully, I didn't save any Vue scenes using 8.4.
thefixer posted Fri, 26 February 2010 at 3:42 AM
I'm not getting the memory errors, just slow downs, takes ages to do anything, click, wait, click, wait..........

If you can get it to run out of memory, then you have a pop-up where you can send the secret error code to E-on's ticket server.

Well, Vue Infinite 7.4 was just thrown out as a freebie until E-on could sell 7.5. But 7.4 broke so much stuff from 7.21. 8.4 seems to have broke 8.1 which broke a lot of 8.0. History is repeating itself this year, so far. That would mean 8.5 will include a new amazing feature (7.5 added planet creation) so that we would stay in the loop.
That's messed up though if E-on is on purpose messing up version updates right before they release a for-sale-only version update that works.

I haven't imported any pz3's into 8.4 yet but I am finding the slowness an irritant. After a render has finished (and I do a lot of preview renders) it takes ages for it to decide to finish and often the 4 viewports will go black before everything rights itself and I can close the render and carry on

I'm using an eight-year-old computer with 2GB RAM. Vue Infinite has run great on it as well as other 3D apps. But if a program has memory leaks, no machine out there today is going to make it run great. It could just be something simple like Vue's config files being a byte or two off and causing cascading effects because of errant variable initialization at program start. Little things like that is what causes Ctrl+Right MB not to work (which works just fine in build 47776).

I haven't gone back to 8.1 to try it yet - I tried it in 7.4. I'm not at my Vue comp right now but I may try reassigning the zoom operation, because referring to an earlier thread started by Fixer, I had an option checked that didin't cause a problem that he had - in fact, it didn't do what it was supposed to. What I did there was to untick the box to load new items with last material, close out of Vue, restart it and then tick the box again and then it worked as it should.
Not sure who was responsible for this latest update (although it is a beta isn't it?) --- e-on techs or the elves and faries

That is weird though that non-EEF subscribers are able to download a beta. Someone is not awake at the file server.

Vue 8.4 Infinite - Build 49917 This update is still in beta. The following is a list of bug fixes and improvements included in this update:
They often put out beta updates - I usually don't bother until they're out of beta so I don't know why I did this time around

Harumph! I reported the delay issue but now each time I try to open a NEW ticket regarding the zoom thing it just goes to the already open ticket Ijsut did
I want to do the other ticket because I just found out also that the box won't take alpha or numeric keyboard inputs. If I try to type a new shortcut say Shift+J it will only accept Shift. I tried it using numbers and function keys and still it will not accept them. Only Shift, Ctrl, Alt and mouse buttons.
Obviously the elves and fairies had magic mushrooms for breakfast

logged the slowdown thingie - I've had pretty fast responses to my last few bug reports so let's hope they carry on in the same vein!
DreamlandModels posted Fri, 26 February 2010 at 7:11 PM
Hi Gill,
I was having the same issue and even did a reinstall before I realized that the problem was not the install or even the version. Vue 6.60-04 Build 292711 in my case. If you use a custom interface for some reason the option is not there, so I chose to use the Vue 5 interface and after restrarting Vue the option to zoom was back.
Hope this not a repeat of someones reply.
Hope all is well with you Gill my friend.
regards, Tom
gillbrooks posted Sat, 27 February 2010 at 12:25 PM
Thanks for the input Tom,but no custom interface -just the default one.
I did try loading the Vue 5 interface preset but still no joy. Changed back to the default and again, no zoom
I finally managed to raise a ticket late last night but I don't suppose anyone will read it till Monday at the earliest

Well, turns out it was a bug -- here's the reply to my ticket..
Iknow I can use the wheel but I missmy shortcut !!
Hi Gill,
We have fixed the missing zoom trigger in orientable previews. A future update will sort things out. In the mean time, you can use mouse wheel to move back & forth.
The triggers are a bit special, since they can only be a combination of ctrl/alt/shift and mouse buttons. This is because they actually correspond to continuous user actions when moving mouse pointer.
Best regards.
