why would it take more than 5 minutes to load V4 into Poser 8?
Not just her, but most figures.

Anti-virus software?
Just for comparison, it takes me 8 seconds to load V4 in P8.
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

Check and see what else is running which may be consuming CPU power?
Just a thought.

could be the AV ...
nothing else running other than AV and spyware stuff, plus all the background jung which I can't seem to get rid of in XP. 98 used to run pretty much clean.
8 seconds ...yikes. I need a new system too.
I'll go offline and shut off the AV and see what happens..
Thanks.

what AV / Anti Spyware are you running?
can you do a Alt+Ctrl+Del and show us the Processes you have running?
Dave-So posted Sun, 07 March 2010 at 3:49 PM
The capture of the processor resources...the use spiked for qyuite awhile when PSP was loading...I noticed, though, that every once in awhile the cpu would go up to around 30-40% ... appears something is accessing the net or something.

omgawd.
ok...! we can fix this.
while I write up a list of what to kill, please goto http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml and get and install the Startup.CPL. for system maintenance on XP .
using that it'll be easy to turn off what you don't need loaded and there's a lot there.
Dave-So posted Sun, 07 March 2010 at 4:06 PM
ok ..first off...thanks for the help :)
I'm happy its saveable :)
startup.CPL is installed

ok these are what I would remove / disable using Startup and what I know is perfectly safe and what you just don't need running all the time anyway.
Adobe_Updater.exe - Kill - Manual Update as this does not update that quickly
rhaphlpr.exe - kill - Rhapsody Helper for the subscription music service. I suspect you don't need it running all the time.. try killing it.
pdsched.exe - kill - Perfect Disk Scheduler. YOu don't need this constantly running.
wodupdsv.exe - kill - some update service. I'd kill it until more is known.
spysweeper.exe - kill - you don't need this running constantly. run a sweep every few days.
viewpointservice.exe - Kill - unless you are running "viewpoint media player' for some AOL items, KILL THIS. it is actually a mild spyware app.
psiservice.exe - Unsure - this is a copyprotection program. not sure what you are running that requires it.
psiservice_2.exe - as above.
photoshopelementsdeviceconnect.exe - Non Essential..personally I'd kill it.
pd9engine.exe - Kill - part of perfectdisk defrag. you don't need a defragger running constantly.
novacomd.exe - Phone app. I think you may need it.
kodaksvc.exe - unless you are sharing your Printer, kill.
jqs.exe - http://techsalsa.com/what-is-jqsexe-and-how-to-disable-it/
photoshopelementsfileagent.exe - only needed if you use the Elements Organiser to track files. if not, Kill.
viewmgr.exe - Kill
ssu.exe - Kill - Spysweeper. you don't need this running constantly. run a sweep every few days.
incdsvr.exe - Nero Bloat. Kill.
wrconsumerservice.exe - Spysweeper. see above.
khalmnpr.exe - Part of the Logitech Mouse software.
corel photo downloader.exe - Kill.
spysweeperui.exe - Spysweeper, see above
itouch.exe - Logitech Keyboard software. safe.

oh I forgot.. once you've killed them off, reboot.
you should see a huge improvement in bootup speed and speed in general.

I would run something like;
Advanced systemcare free (free) One click maintanace, just click the "care" button in the middle.
Glary utilities (free) One click maintanance on top of the screen.
Optional ; Ccleaner (free)
Install and run , in that order.
Just pay atention to Glary utilities as it "cleans" skype a little too good.
But you can uncheck those lines if needed.
The first 2 also have a lot of usefull tools to check Windows, memory etc.
System would be as good as new.
Very carefully check the "options" of a lot of installed programs.
Do you realy need all spyware inspectors? One can get? Running all the time?
Te first 2 , manually, once an evening, do the job quite well.
Good luck

edit: just killing spysweeper speeded my email about 10,000 times. browser, ie8, still pretty slow.
I can't find most of that stuff in the list anywhere to turn off though.

Also if you're feeling brave check out www.blackviper.com/ they have a nice list of all the services that run in the background & how they should be set "disabled, manual, automatic" ,choose the safe option. No Windows user should be without that link.

I don't know what it is about me that pigeons hate but they will insist on dive bombing me when I'm out, one actually bounced off my head a while back.
There is one in town that's very tame though, he only has one foot & has the (rather cruel) nickname stumpy, he'll take food right out of your hand.
Anyway that's enough about pigeons & popcorn, what was the thread about? I've forgotten. ;)
