 I was floored by the old man’s face having so much sub surface scattering and then they did it with the dogs. Was it exaggerated on purpose? Looked kinda freaky but I was impressed. ...AGM

I haven't seen the movie.  But cartoons can get away with using exaggerated SSS, fresnel, bloom, etc.
