If this is a dumb question please forgive me.  Ive looked through the preset rollup this afternoon on 5.5 for a nice mirror surface.  I cant seem to find one.  Maybe its there and I am passing over it.  If not - can anyone recommend where I might get a hold of some mirror and mirror like surfaces.  Thankyou.

int he freebie area.. or at cgshare. Cool mats there.Check in the metal section of the presets.. you'll be able to find some mat there that you can tweak/edit to increase it into a mirror. I know I've seen a mirror mat somewhere there.

or do a search for mirror textures..and import it using the da vinci guy in the mats lab.

cheers

Look in metals - bright metals - there should be a mirror, however it has a distinct blue colour in its diffuse witch i suggest you make light grey instead or else all reflektions will have a blue tone to it

Thankyou both so much for this - metal is a good idea - and why didnt I think of it?

You can make a mirrored surface really easily - just use these settings in the material library. I'm using Bryce 6 but if my memory is correct there should be no difference :

Reflection - 100
Specularity -100

No other settings are needed, but of course you can play around and see what works best for your object/scene.

Just brilliant 104 - thanks for taking the time here and much appreciated.  btw - Out of Step is a marvellous piece - congratulations on this one.  Not just for your technical expertise - but for the ambience and the emotion conveyed.
