positve/negative..then why isn't my moon becoming a half moon? Have I suddenly forgotten?
can someone plz baby me a bit and do a mini tut on creating half noons?
somehow, my brain isn't working here.

I would just use the sky editor to edit the moon itself...but if you wanna make an object (sphere) and make it look like a half moon, then just make 2 spheres, select the one you want to make the moon, hit the little A for attribute editor... select positive.
Then select the other sphere and it's A for attribute and select negative. Then make that sphere a bit larger and move it into place to "slice" a chunk out of your moon sphere, select both and group them.

btw.. my moon is a bowl!!! i guess i have to work that out,,,

Do it with the Light Lab Rosie...a half moon is the product of shadow and not subtraction of part of the moon in real life so would be made the same way in Bryce
Once

what if you were putting a lady sitting on it? a poser.. pardon the blasphemy.. figure? or a cat? or a dolphin jumping over the moon? ok..that i can use the skylab for. Illusion there. But a cat on a moon?
bobbystahr posted Sun, 04 April 2010 at 11:45 AM
Were I to try that [and I did], I'd make it a 2D object essentially and have it face the camera, there's a switch for that, and have the lady or cat grouped to the moon where you want it/her to appear, so no matter where you put your camera you can't see but the side shot keeping the 2D aspect out of the image. I did a similar image for an all nite radio show and that's how I achieved this, although in Imagine 3D but the technique would be the same.. ...

Ok..think i've got that.. though the camera bit keeping the 2d out of the shot aspect puzzles me.

Tom has it.... essentially a cylinder shrunk in the length would have the 2D character and I think Track to camera in the {A} tab would keep it looking at the camera

They are individually lighted with their own parallel light set to ranged and the range value is low enough that the light is limited its moon only. All three are rendered in the same scene close to each other so you can see the ability to limit lighting on objects when you use ranged settings. The flattened sphere has three parallel lights spread out a little so to make a bigger crescent.
The problem with these would be your desire to place a figure sitting on the moon. The lights would effect the imported poser figure also and you may be wanting something different for the figure. But if you like the realism of these examples you can always render the moon, save the image and then import the image as a 2d plane for you figure to sit on.
Just some thoughts. Happy Easter.

"There is no such thing as a stupid question, only people too stupid to ask a question and learn." Note:This quote does note apply to Poser users. Yeah yeah, I know. Another couple of days in the comfy chair for picking on the talentless. Ooops. Um. I didn't mean talentless. Okay a week in the comfy chair. Lets change that talentless to lacking imagination. Better? No.
Looks like you need to order in a few meals Cardinal. This could take a while.
