Reading the replies to the questions in Steve's thread below; I don't like the fact that software code is being put on to my machine that I am unable to remove, or know where it is without the co-operation of CL. If I want remove code from my machine, I don't want to have to rely on someone else to help me do it. It looks as if we will need to download a second patch to to get rid of the code. Personally, this fact would leave me having second thoughts on a future purchase of a product from CL, which is a shame. I'm sitting here (at 2.00am in the morning), and feel very dejected. When the warez problem effects a company that much, that they have to take these kind of measures against their loyal customers (which are probably the most supportive customers of any software manufacturer), then it is a very sad day. The fun has finally been taken out of Poser. I'm gutted, becuase as things stand, Poser 4 will be my last version. I can't believe it.... Cheers

That's unfortunate. I am also sitting here at two in the morning feeling dejected and frankly pounced on. I apologize if I made you feel dejected. Our purpose is not to cause you inconvinience. If you register and have proved ownership by doing so, then we'll help you out as best we can. You are a valued customer. Why does requiring registration take the fun out of Poser? You want a great product and that requires money. We'll be fighting to survive instead of hiring the best engineering talent available, this affects you also and we are on the same side. If Piracy continues to this extent, Poser 4 may be everyones last version. Think about this for a while and please don't feel dejected. We really need you guys and are not trying to punish you. Poser will still be fun and possibly be even better because of this. **************************** Steve Yatson Product Manager Curious Labs Http://www.curiouslabs.com ****************************

I have to agree with Cheers, you guys still haven't gotten up the online registration form for exsisting owners of Poser yet your using your time on this stuff. The warez people have caught your attention and now you are ignoring those of us who actually payed for it. I am feeling a little disenchanted myself, and dispite the fact that Poser is my favorite program I am beginning to wonder if version 4 will be the last version for me.

Hi Steve, Sorry but you are twisting what I say...I did not say that by registering that it was taking the fun out of Poser. In fact I have complained continually about the fact that there is still no online registration. I still check to see if it is up yet most days, so that I can register. Let me put what I feel on the record: I still trust CL 100%, and I can understand the reasons that you have to go to such lengths. My personal moral issues on this however will affect my decision. I just don't agree that someone should be allowed to place something on my computer that I have very little control over. If I register, I would at least like to know where the code is placed, and how to remove it by myself. Of course it goes without saying, that I would expect registration to be terminated if I decided to do that. I will continue to use Poser 4 and support CL in their fight against warez, but if Poser 5 or PPP means that I have to place hidden code on my machine, then Poser 4 is my last CL product. In other words, I would not be able to accept the license agreement. Those are just my personal opinions Steve...just like I don't agree with Bull Fighting, but other people do. I hope that you can understand my views Steve, even if you can't agree. Kindest regards, Cheers

Bug, It actually all ties in together. We didn't want everyone to have to register twice or risk registration info not being carried over to a new database correctly, or worse risk security by putting up the wrong type of registration database that wasn't correctly implemented. Cheers, I understand, but this is something we must be steadfast on. Telling anyone at this point where the code was or how to remove it would defeat our purpose. I hope you run through the process to register and then unregister to see how it goes before you make that decision. Morally I'm opposed to accepting cookies through Netscape, but if I want to use some features on some servers, I have to. I'm also opposed to amortization, but if I want to own a house I have to allow it. I can't pay cash for a $200k house but in the end I end up paying over a million for it because the interest is amortized. To me that is theft and it's immoral. I'm obviously trying to influence your decision here and maybe my analogies aren't the best, but I really do understand where you're coming from. We deal with these issues daily and inmost aspects of life. I hope that you stay with us, but I would understand and appreciate your decision not to. I didn't mean to twist your words. I just misunderstood. **************************** Steve Yatson Product Manager Curious Labs Http://www.curiouslabs.com ****************************
