Hi all,
As the title states, I'm wondering how to create tattoo- or scar- or whatever-maps that can be used with any texture:
What I want to end up with is this:
I load a figure (M4 or V4 eg) and apply the desired (clean) texture. Then I apply the tattoo-texture and as a result, the tattoo shows up on the intended spot, leaving the rest of the clean texture unaltered.
I was thinking that for this, I need the template files from the figure at hand. On this template, I draw the tattoo, or scar or whatever where it should be. If I leave the rest of the template alone, it will be imported as a transparent texture, barring the area that I painted on. Is that correct?
If so, how do I make the "texture-overlay" of the tattoo show up in my poses-folder so I can apply it as I would do with a normal texture?
Thanks a lot in advance,
Peevee

Here is a link for an old post concerning this very subject.

It should fit your needs. Also check Acadia's Tutorial and discussions link at the top of the forum listing.

It contains 1 or 2 posts about decaling.

I´ve done a mini-tut on VSS overlay you can find it here:
It started out for tattoos but ended with something else ;)

Hi there,
One more question:
I was hoping that at the end of all the work setting up the tattoo, I could somehow save it as a MAT in my pose-tab, so I could use it again later on another figure (I mean if I created it for eg M4, I could load another M4 figure into the scene and apply the tattoo to that figure aswell by just clicking on the MAT file in the pose- tab. Is that possible?
Thanks a lot,
Peevee

I don't know about saving it to the library. I assume you're talking about applying only the tattoos and not the skin texture or anything else? If you use the VSS prop you can save that to the prop folder and use it on any character you want.

I see,
And does the vss prop allow saving as a smart prop so it will show up on the same place where I put it the first time?
Thanks,
Peevee

The VSS Prop can go any where, there is no designated 'spot'. Absolutely, no need to smart prop. After you apply your shaders, you can delete it from your scene. Saving the prop to library will only retain your generic shader nodes unless you insert an actual image in your arrangement.
