Hmmm... I am not completely sure if I translated this right but it seems to me that we two think alike. But to not stir up any hard feelings...

and you may get an idea of what people like about these non-V4/M4 figures

What means that I got your right!
But don't get me wrong: I am not one of those persons who have to dislike one figure because they like another. I do not believe in the "war of the systems" (or here: figures). In fact V4 to me is the attempt of a "one figure fits all needs" (at least for a female figure) and in fact she is very versatile as soon as you have several add-ons. But there is a prize to be paid for this versatility and this is, to me, less personality and of course, sooner or later, a kind of recognition value in the galleries that leads to some boredom.
So it's not so much a "I like Miki better than Victoria" but more a "Here and there I need a Miki in my renders for some new inspiration".

Quote - I loved Miki 1 (passed on Miki 2). Yeah, her joints could have been better, but for close up portrait work, she was the best. You couldn't get a more natural looking smile or expression than Miki :o). I assume that people like the figures they do for different reasons: like I said, I liked Miki because of her expressive face. There's been nothing like it before or since. You still can't even get V4 to smile like that.

The range of expression and emotion in the first two Miki's is unmatched. Her emotions look so natural and enthusiastically genuine. I think she is an example of what can be done and what is sorely needed in poser figures in general. I really hope to see more of that in figures in the future.
My brain is just a toy box filled with weird things

I wish I could understand why people like the G2 figures and the old Miki figures.
Their proportions and sizes are different and IMHO more realistic than those of Victoria. Most of all especially Miki looks really asian and not like a caucasian women playing Geisha. Off of that both versions of Miki can be used to create very believable african characters. And yes, of course: The expressions! To sum it up I would say: I like them because there is something authentic about them.
Yes, their joints and feet can give you a hard time and Miki's hands... well, this girl has serious arthrosis. I, too, would be very happy to see these things being fixed. But the fact that many people like her anyway and even with those problems simply tells me that there is a need for something different from the standard 3d-fashion model.
And wouldn't it be boring if all Poser and DS users use only one female mesh with a handful of variations? Here and there I simply feel the need to put the good old Victoria aside and render something that looks completely different and not another variation of the same girl.
