Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knows what happened to all of WarTech products?
They were there last night (and like an idiot I didn't buy his latest one's figuring I would do it in the morning) and now...all gone!?!
Any information about the situation would be greatly appreciated.
John

I'm curious as well, for much the same reasons. Anyone know? I sent him an EMail through Renderosity, but have gotten no response.

Most likely because of this:

Well that just frickin blows chunky salsa!

Great. One of the very few people anywhere, doing decent guns, and one of only a literal handful doing them for non-spleen prices, and he's gone. Wonderful. Just bleeping wonderful.

My hope is that Renderosity, THQ, and the original artist can come to some agreement.
And yeah, I agree with you.

Hello all,
We cannot discuss members accounts with other members. I can tell you though that the link above has nothing to do with it as we have been working with him on this behind the scenes.
Thank you all and have a nice day!

Hello,
Hello,
Kristi is correct, while we do not give out details surrounding another members issues here, we will say that the member was removed for TOS violations that did not have to do with their Marketplace store or any copyright concerns.
This is an FYI to help avoid further speculation or false information.
Thank you

Well...that still sucks, he had the best collection of decently priced poser firearms period. I now have a hole in my runtime where wartechs stuff should have gone sniff

Wow. That's ballsy....
McKay001 posted Sat, 22 May 2010 at 4:33 AM
Not really, he has modified them significantly.
Madbat posted Sat, 22 May 2010 at 5:20 AM
That only works if he has used his own mesh and textures, merely altering the existing ones is still a violation of copyright law. from what I've seen, all he's done is reshaped the mesh he extracted from the games. I'd bet dollars to doughnuts these new ones have identical poly counts.
McKay001 posted Sat, 22 May 2010 at 6:47 AM
From what I have heard he did not extract the meshes. That his models originally had higher poly counts than the game meshes.
Madbat posted Sat, 22 May 2010 at 7:29 AM
OK, Meshes, maybe, maybe not. I haven't got the games so I can't check for myself, I looked at his 'new' stuff and compared it with Marcus Dublins, the textures are still the exact same, down to scuff marks, or cut n' paste cloned. Kinda sucks, but there you have it. That's enough to send me somewhere else. No biggie.

Yesterday I too noticed that his store was gone and was surprised to read that thread posted by Brokenangel... but both Rend and wartech both seem to be sorting out the problem yeah?
Personally.. I think I'll wait and see what his updated versions have to offer =D
McKay001 posted Mon, 24 May 2010 at 12:55 AM
I guess it needs to be repeated. Wartech was shut down for a TOS violation not anything to do with his products or alleged copyright infringement. This is from the staff at Renderosity posted above and in the other thread.
What I take away from Renderosity's statements goes like this...
They (Renderosity) affirm that the models that Wartech was selling here are his own and do not infringe on anyother's copyright. At no point did they tell buyers to stop using the models from the seller.
This is very poignant in that they are aware of alleged copyright issues but have not directed buyers to take action.
So...as a commercial artist, I am going to use WarTech's models that I purchased in good faith with the understanding that Renderosity has now fully shouldered any liability from the use of those models.
If I am mistaken in Renderosity affirming that these models can be used they are free to contact me (hopefully soon as I have several pieces that are due to be sold) and clarify the situation.
