Ok, so... Theres not a "general" discussion area for asking questions so I picked this one since I pose my figures in poser.

Question: I am looking for a mat for M4(or even M3) that shows heavy veins coming out of arms/legs/chest etc. Similar to Davids bodybuilder material at Daz. Anyone know of anything?
I am NOT a texture artist. Been there, tried that, failed HORRIBLY..

Thanks guys and gals.

I remember something vaguely about vein displacement maps. Hopefully someone will come along who knows more and give you better information than what I remember.

ok.. thanks.. Though I don't know what that means..heh heh..(displacement maps).

Then I would suggest you start learning very quickly.  In many instances, displacement maps will either make or break a render where realistic detail is concerned.  Like perhaps a displacement map veins.  Unfortunately, a veinous displacement map was never created for M3, although I would imagine that David's could be used for M3's mesh.  M4's veinous displacement map was only created for DAZ Studio (pity), however Semidieu @ RuntimeDNA created a python script  which can insert different intensities of displacement.  That script can be found here:

http://www.runtimedna.com/forum/showthread.php?t=40908&highlight=m4+displacement

After you go through that thread, I am going to imagine that you will back with further questions.

And the script does work, I have tried it already.

Many of the character sets by Morris have vein displacement maps. I think the "Wood God" by Morris is for M4. Pretty sure it has some displacement maps. Anyway if you look through his character sets I'm sure you'll find what you are looking for.

A HOMELAND FOR POSER FINALLY

thanks everyone.I appreciate it. I probably WILL be back with more ???? I'll check this stuff out. See what I can come up with.

I have a free vein map for Mike3. If you've got the Universal Texture Converter from Daz, it's easy to convert to any figure :)

TG, just checked that link and it appears to be broken.

Try here instead: [www.who3d.com/downloads/M4DisplacementForPoser.zip](http://www.who3d.com/downloads/M4DisplacementForPoser.zip)   Here is an example i just rendered with the Freak 4.

drgnmztr posted Sun, 23 May 2010 at 1:36 PM

I got the script working fine but my runtime isnt seeing the tifs fromDazs m4displacementmaps..Uhg

Nemesis10,do you need the python script for those?

drgnmztr posted Sun, 23 May 2010 at 2:12 PM

Well, I loaded basils script and that went fine but the maps won't show up in my runtime. so I DL'd and added the ones Nemesis linked to above. I see the maps and folders in my Poser runtime but when I went to load onto M4, I got this error message:

NULL(or empty)script name passed to PEPythonEngine::DoScript

I'm running PoserPro on a PC with Vista

I went to render anyway and nothing..
anyone have a clue? maybe I need to take out Basils (Semidieus) script?

thanks for any help...

Semidieu's script can only be run from script menu in the taskbar.  You are given the different flavors of displacement.  There are no Library settings generated.  See image above.

hborre posted Sun, 23 May 2010 at 3:03 PM

Is the script installed in the Poser folder?  And is PoserPro installed within Program Files folder in Vista? (Just a chance of UAC interference if that is the case).

BTW, Both scripts are essentially the same.

drgnmztr posted Sun, 23 May 2010 at 3:21 PM

Ok,thats different from what I have set up. Everything is in the library folder for Simidieu(except the script). Chris's is set the same way,as per the folder Heirarchy in the zip file.. let me change both.

and yes , poserpro is installed in programs folder in vista.. Nothing has been clear as to where to put the tifs..

hborre posted Sun, 23 May 2010 at 3:30 PM

Unless there is proper authorization or deactivation of UAC (not highly recommended), Poser installed into Program Files folder under Vista and W7 will experience OS interference and disruption.  The usual recommendation is to install Poser into it's own folder on the core drive.

Perhaps what we are seeing is Windows not allowing the script to run.

hborre

sorry to be a pain..

going along the lines of simidieus script and using the m4displacement maps from daz...

I have the py file in the scripts library,
poserpro/runtime/python/poserscripts/scriptsmenu

what is the path for the m4displacement maps from daz? I am still not sure where they go since you said there's no library settings....

hborre posted Sun, 23 May 2010 at 6:59 PM

The exact pathway I have for Semidieu's RDNA d/l is *Poser ProRuntimePythonposerscriptsscriptsMenuCBowmanM4Displacement.

*Load M4, navigate and pull down the Script menu of your menu bar and open as illustrated in the post above.

hborre posted Sun, 23 May 2010 at 7:03 PM

Once you apply the displacement to M4, you should see the arrangement of nodes above.   Make certain that *use displacement maps* is checked on under render settings before you render your scene.

ok. I'll give that a shot.Thank you.
sorry. Been battling a headache all day and the computer screen hasn't been helping.

hborre posted Sun, 23 May 2010 at 11:33 PM

Sorry to hear that.  Been there, done that.  Let me know how it turns out.  I double checked my own set up and it works.  I see no reason why your's shouldn't.

Argh! Thanks for spotting it! It's fixed now!

Thanks a lot to nemesis for the maps!

drgnmztr posted Tue, 25 May 2010 at 1:16 AM

Well, I guess I crashed Poser so it wouldnt even open. I copied my runtimes and reinstalled poser and reinstalled my runtimes.
I then placed the py file and the disp maps and ran poser. It worked BUT, high setting really distorted m4, looked like a corpse with muscles. and the fingers got really skinny.Tried it at .50 and worked better but fingers are still skinny and veins don't pop out as much but its better than nothing. Just need to figure out the skinny thing now...

I'll post a pic in my gallery when I get this piece finished.

hborre, I really appreciate all the help.
