So far the only thing I have noticed with 8.5 is the slow poser import and I don't mean a scene I mean just one thing.  It just seems it takes a loooong time for the poser item to finally show up in the preview window. I will have to experiment more and see if it has to do with using Poser Pro 2010 for the creation of PZ3 files instead of Poser 8. Since Poser Pro 2010 is not in the drop down menu when you configure poser in Vue 8.5.

The slowness started in 8.1.

See all my reports here and over at e-on about working with an e-on tech for all the reported bugs I found with Poser imports. Bottom line is they were all reported to Smith Micro and it is their SDK code which is the problem and Smith Micro will have to fix it. They don't know when that will be. All the issues go back to as far as Vue 7.5 and includes issues with OOM errors, resizing issues, Poser Shader Tree issues and more.

If you search this forum section you will find more details and over at e-on too on much of this. The SLOW importing is expected too. Also you should note that according to e-on, the SDK did much harm and it has messed up all Poser Pro 2010 related issues and there is no official support for any Poser Pro software at this time.

Best of luck, hope things work out for you.

I find 8.5 to be much better than 8.4 at Poser import speed.

As for the SDK thing, e-on blames SM...SM blames e-on, it depends who you want to believe...

In fact, overall import is slower in 8.5 (not only for poser scenes but also plain "obj" or "dae" files).

Yep.  Poser 6's SDK has not changed, but E-on's code has.  And somehow it is not E-on's fault.  I'll just stick with Vue 8.0 and use my $295 for something else.  I have a feeling Vue 9.0 won't have $295 worth of new features in it, but will still have the same bugs if not more.

I import from Poser with 8.5 32 bit (Mac), convert to VOB and import the VOB into 8.5 Mac 64 bit Beta for rendering. It is faster and my unsupported GeForce 7300 GT actually works better in 8.5 64 bit!

Previously I was using a SPECIFIC build of 8.1 because import did not work for me  in 8.4
I currently have 8.1 (kept one build), 8.4, 8.5 32 bit and 8,5 64 beta

OK I changed my mind, I had to re-install 8.5 the other day because it crashed completely, wouldn't let me run the programme at all. Anyway after the reinstall the Poser imports are as bad as ever, really bloody slow....
