I have downloaded an .obj and .mtl file (a hat) and I want to put it on my character. I'm not sure which folders to put these two files into so that I can access them through the library.
Can somebody help me with this?
Thanks.
Michael

IT does not matter where you put these files. You just have to know where you put them so you can navigate to them.
Let's say you put on your desktop (just for argument).
When you get to the screen asking what file to import, navigate to your desktop and click on the obj file.
You should see it automagically appear on your Pose screen. Use the x,y,z trans dials to move it where you want it, and parent it to your character.
You can then save it to your props file for future use.
That's all there is to it!

Thanks, basicwiz and I did do that and yes it imported, but I got this large flat plane (as in 2d) that came along with it and was attached to it. I thought if I did it through the library that plane wouldn't be there.
If I do it the way you suggest, how do I get rid of the plane?

Which programme was this hat created in? That's where you need to separate the meshes (flat plane from the hat).
Monterey/Mint21.x/Win10 - Blender3.x - PP11.3(cm) - Musescore3.6.2

You can separate the hat from the plane with Poser's Grouping tool. Select all the parts that belongs to the hat (probably easiest to do with the front camera and wireframe view) Then, with the hat seected (it lights up red), click the Spawn Props button and you'll have a new object in your scene. Delete the one with the plane and save the other one to your props palette/library :)

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.

I agree with TG. That is, perhaps, the easiest way to isolate the hat and save into the library.

Thanks TrekkieGrrrl, but nothing happens when I use (click and drag) the grouping tool and then
hit the Spawn Props button.
I have Poser 8.
