can we in poser use transparency on an object where the shadows ignores the transparency?

the object would render with the transparency but the shadows would look like there is no transparency.

you know what i mean? you think this can be done?

Use Refract with IOR =1.

What you seek is the opposite of my usual problem. Usually I seek to use refaction without casting a shadow.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

i have problems with long renders when i use hair with transparency.

i was thinking that if the shadows would be generated from the mesh and the hair would render with transparency that then it would render faster and at the same time it would look better then hair without shadows.

i was also thinking if the mesh would be duplicated. the first mesh would render the textures with transparency. the second mesh would only render the shadows. but we can not render a mesh that generates shadows but is invisible at teh same time.

right?

Correct - can't make shadows from an invisible object.

And if speed is your goal, then my suggestion isn't going to help, but rather make it worse.
