Just a heads up to note that the current issue of 3D Artist magazine comes with a free version of C7 Pro on the cover disc.

Question.... Owners of Carrara 7 get a discount from Daz towards a purchase of C8... and they have the registration key on their account to prove their ownership... Do owners of C7 by way of 3D magazine have the same advantage to purchasing C8 at those discounts..?

In the past, DAZ has always honored ownership of their product, whether given away in a magazine or not, as a means to upgrade to the next level of product.
BTW, I have an article about Carrara in that edition!

I would think so. I got my C7 Pro discount after I bought the issue that had C6 Pro on it and it had a regular serial number.

Anyone else having problems trying to complete an order for this issue at the website? I get through the whole thing and it says to enter my credit card info after the order review. No problem, except that after the order review, the next page has no place to enter the information. Kind of difficult to pay for it if they don't give you a place to enter the info. I have tried several times using Firefox, Safari and IE, and none of them work.
Any other website where this can be ordered? And does anyone know if the Mac version is on the disc as well, or just the windows version?

What is the issue #17 ?
I'll have to pick up a copy.

I live in New York and my Barns&Nobles was sold out..... :(
Now for my next question... If they were giving it away on CD in 3D artist.. May I assume that Daz will eventually (soon) will give it away as well or sell it cheap... ?

You can only upgrade from 7 to 8 on the Daz website. There is no option to buy 7.
tom271 posted Fri, 25 June 2010 at 6:16 PM
well that's dandy... I only have C6,, so in order to get to C8 I'd have to buy the upgrade to C7 then to C8,,, If I had known about the free CD on 3D Artist sooner I could have upgrade only once..
I'm sure C7 it will come up cheap somewhere....

I ok just got back from another Chapters stores and although they were well stocked, they only had Issue #15.
Thats strange its like 2 issues behind.
ShawnDriscoll posted Fri, 25 June 2010 at 11:51 PM
#15 showed up just three weeks ago in US stores. So it will be awhile still before #17 shows up (around the last week of July).
US stores get issue #16 next week. It's a UK thing.

I'm in the us and my store has sold out #17 already....

Impossible. They closed just 25 minutes ago, so I can't pop over there and see what the current number is on their bookstands. The foreign newstands still have this months issue that hasn't even hit B&N yet. Keep your eye on B&N stores.

I did a check on the US site of 3D Artist mag and it looks like issue #17 goes on sale in the US starting July 1st. Which means Barnes & Noble get their copies on the west coast three weeks later (around 8-10 copies sent to each store). Places like Paris Newstand get their copies on July 1st. But they only order 2-3 copies because of the faster shipping.
By the way, anyone notice the CG magazines getting thinner? 3D World is excited about releasing new thicker issues. Maybe they have more articles for the summer?
I also get ImagineFX magazine sometimes.

Tough time to be in the publication business. Summer time is always lighter on advertising - except in the fashion industry.
While I love holding a "real" magazine in my hand, it just makes more sense to go digital from a distribution standpoint. I've talked to 3D World editors and they are still adamant about a real publication and not making a full digital version available. I know it's the same for 3D Artist too. It's always a question of how to protect content for them. But the real issue is about guaranteeing revenue from advertiser and subscribers. Not an easy problem to resolve...
Magic_Man posted Sat, 26 June 2010 at 6:04 AM
To note, the issue (17), also has an upgrade code to get 25% off C8/C8 pro before 30th September.
Are there any updates to C7? Can't find any on the DAZ site, only up to 6.

I do have to confess that in my haste I did not ask the clerk at Barns&Nobles if the 3D Artist mag that had been sold out was issue #17.. So, I'll will give them a call and ask for the Issue number... Let me hope I was wrong!...

Good. Otherwise there would have been panic in the streets.

I'd love to know the upgrade coupon code now, so I can order it. :)

3dartist website said it was ~ £12 (£6 for issue, ~ £6 for handling) for those in the states,
but how smashed up would the DVD be after all those yobbos tossed it about in their mailbags?
others've sent me dvds from u.k. often, but they always box them up with a strong backing.
b&n told me issue 16 would arrive in july.

I subscribe to Retro Gamer which is by the same publisher, although they no longer include Discs, I've never had a bad one, and as well when I buy them from Chapters they are in good shape.
