"Spilled Salt"

I risked seven years of bad luck for this photo according to superstition lore:)

helanker posted Fri, 02 July 2010 at 3:02 AM

Here we go, but i am not sure if it is allowed to put a white background on my picture...I have it with the natural breen too, but...??????????

AluLeiter posted Fri, 02 July 2010 at 3:15 AM

What a wonderful idea for a challenge! :-)

@wonderworld
Nice idea...

...and don´t panic - you have done it for the art!  ;-)

AluLeiter posted Fri, 02 July 2010 at 3:21 AM

Here´s my first try...

The image orientation is intentional. ;-)

helanker posted Fri, 02 July 2010 at 3:22 AM

Sorry,  I meant Natural GREEN... lol

helanker posted Fri, 02 July 2010 at 3:28 AM

WOnderworld, just throw a bit of the salt over the left shoulder and no more bad luck will happen. ....  fine idea.

AluLeiter,  It looks so clean, your first shot. So beautiful too.

AluLeiter posted Fri, 02 July 2010 at 3:37 AM

Meisiekind posted Fri, 02 July 2010 at 3:46 AM

Cynthia - wow - thanks for popping and and your two wonderful contributions! I had a good laugh at the salt spill and wanted to give you the same advice as Helle did!!! hehehe... Greta shot - both of them!

Aluleiter - Most amazing! I agree with Helle - very clean! I also love the perspective and camera angle! Very creative!!! Thanks for painting first!!! Hehehe....

Well, the scene is set and the standard is HIGH - let's all join in!

When i took a  picture of the whole line of flowers, my son asked me, if that was a before and after picture. First i didnt understand what he meant and he said..." yes,  before and after the Roe Deer has eaten them".............

I'm lovin' this! So fast, so many and such quality... this is indeed a challenge. I have a few ideas but I am really studying the way the whites are broken out in each shot so I don't come back with something substandard.  These are all fabulous!

The wonderful and quite diverse entries are exciting.  :  )

TomDart posted Thu, 08 July 2010 at 8:07 PM

Flannelman,  we all need some inner glow... ;  )   To me, imagination has always been part of it.

White on white it is..and then on black.  I like this one and the suspended look of the golf ball. To me, it looses the golf ball identity  and becomes part of a surreal view of things...yeah, things.
Nice one.

Zoom up this one, folks and you see mushroom.

Hello everyone :)

It continues to amaze me how beautiful and refined all the uploads are!
I 'must' look a long time, and I really admire them.

Here is my second upload.
The fins and my Kalachoë.

A nice weekend for all of you,

Mies - what a wonderful upload - so soft and serene! The lines of the blinds makes a wonderful patterned 'basket' for the flowers to rest in!!! You know - what I like most about all the White on White uploads is that they look so 'clean'...

Great work and wishing you a wonderful weekend!
I hope the Netherlands win the Soccer World Cup on Sunday!!!

Thanks to all for asking about Mandy and the need for washing her white coat before picture taking...The color you see for her and the white towel is untouched...I just whitened the surrounding things. She stays nice and white like this unless she gets into digging which at almost age 12 she doesn't seem to see much profit in anymore, preferring to be a lady of leisure now.

From Mandy to sugar towers...

Now, here is one of our kitties, the only male we have now.  This image is more high key  than white on white...if this kitty was all white, only a slight hint of eyes would show!

Now that I have seen it, I believe I will get a large print of this one.( I love to see photos in print and not just on a monitor.)

LovelyPoetess posted Sat, 10 July 2010 at 9:28 PM

He reminds me of our Fozz, although Fozz has a bit of a mustache going for him.

We were gifted one of those photo frames that changes pictures every 15 seconds. Actually, we are now on our second one, when the first burned out we found we missed it enough to go out and purchase a replacement.

Everyone who visits becomes facinated with watching it.

dochtersions, those storms are wonderful to watch from inside but not much fun to be out in.  Here, we are known as the City of Trees (also the River City) and a large number of them are 100 years old and older so when we get one of those windy, wet storms, trees come down everywhere.  I know how dangerous it can be and the mess left in the streets to dodge is just as dangerous as the falling trees, sailing trash cans and standing water.  Glad you didn't have any damage but...did you get pictures??? LOL **

myrrhluz posted Mon, 12 July 2010 at 4:57 PM

Hi Mies, Gab is informal  and doesn't translate well.  It means idle or trivial talk.  Gift of the gab means you talk effortlessly and usually quite a lot.  I speak nothing but English, and a very, very, very small amount of Spanish.  It's your English, which is  very good, that allows us to communicate.  :-)
...............................................................................................................................................
Speaking of names, my two given names mean bitter, bringer of light. So if I bring you some light don't expect a cheerful face.  Spell check asked me one time, if I meant Lucifer rather than Lucinda.  I thought that rather insulting.

Welll, Mies..  If i translate helle it is a "refuge" or a "home" or something as boring as a "traffic Island", but I doubt it is either of them, but a short name for Helene.  The beautiful Helene, though they couldnt call me beautiful, but they liked the name so they called me Helle. LOL! Pure guesses from me... No, what i have heard is.... My parents had 2 boys and after 5 years more  they got me by accident.   Accident = "uheld" in danish. But they were lucky,  I was a girl. A "HELD", so I was a bit of luck in the accident :-)  "HELD IN UHELD" so they called me Helle, but i dont know if that is true either. LOL!  LOOONG boring explanation :)
I must remember to say, I have never ever felt,  I was an accident :)))

Awesome spiders by the way. Really beautiful. :-)

Dear Helene,

Your explanation, for me I think those are interesting thoughts from you. Thank you for sharing this.
In the Netherlands means a Held: a Hero, so you are:)
What I really love about to read is, you never feel yourself as an accident. That is a blessing in an accident, they say here in the Netherlands: Een geluk bij een ongeluk. (a lucky by an unlucky).

I did love to hear from you,
bye, Mies

Not boring at all!  I've been told I was a calculated risk, when the drugstore was closed.   It was said in jest, and I have never felt that my arrival on the scene was anything but welcome. :-))) (Well maybe in my teenage years, but it was too late then and they were stuck with me.  They had four teen-aged daughters at one point and can be forgiven for wishing to rid the house of all that drama!)

HAHAA I have a grand daughter that is already a drama queen in the age of 9. What wouldnt it be when she is 14?  :)

dochtersions posted Thu, 22 July 2010 at 4:02 PM

And, do you know? : He was first on my (short) pants!

Meisiekind posted Sun, 25 July 2010 at 7:13 AM

Before the month ends I had to upload a third image! I am really enjoying the white on white theme and am thrilled about all the cool images you guys have posted! This is my late mom's chrystal necklace that me son's fiance will be wearing on their wedding day in September! I photographed it on my bed - all white covers! Not exactly white on white but close enough!

Hi everybody! I know, I'm late but better later than ever... This is a white feather on a eye shadow box. I wish the feather was more white, but...

Meisiekind posted Sun, 25 July 2010 at 9:38 AM

@ Myel - Welcome to the challenge! It is never too late for a great image! I really like your compo and idea!
One thing I have discovered with this challenge is that white is not white through the lens of a camera!!! LOL... I have really battled with my images! But it is great to learn!

What a beautiful bride it will be, this necklace is so beautiful, Carin.
The previous photo of you (for the marriage) was also so very shining.

Oh, and Myel, that looks so nice. Just like there are lashes around, which fits so well together.
Beautiful shining ones!!!!

Greetings,
Mies.
