Hi everyone,

sort of newbie suggestion/qustion for all you poser gurus..

I dont know exactly how the DS3 figure mixer works but in theory, using Poser, can we manually export all bodyparts as morph targets from one unimesh figure and import them to coresponding body parts on another unimesh figure to create a mix between the two?
i.e. If i export all the body parts from F4 and import them to K4 is it possible to make a miget Hulk? :)

just wondering whether this could be done?

If it is possible, are there existing Python scripts to do this?

Cheers!

If DAZ does a David 4 (and I'm sure they will, question of when though) then it probably will include Proportions dials like Stephanie 4 has.  I guess you could implement these dials in the M4 CR2 actually, let me think about that.

Perhaps saving a body pat as an OBJ then replacing the other body part with the obj prop? Not tried it though. How would yuou be using this?

Hi all thanks for the replys..

i was thinking more on the lines of how Figure Mixer works

For example, lets say I make a custom character on V4, by figure mixing with K4 i could make the kid grow to be the custom V4.
this will be great if your doing a comic or something where a charcter remembers the past for example, all you need to do is dial up or down to make the same charcter younger or older!!

I dont have a real need for this, just struck me as a possibility so wanted to throw it out there to see what you guys think..

This sort of Frankensteining has been done using Poser and DAZStudio.  It does work, I have a mixed model myself.  However, the morphing capability is not an exact science, and you will encounter some rather strange behavior with body parts.  One I noticed is a very uncooperative tongue.

Uncooperative tongue eh!  Maybe you should fire the lazy thing and bring in a specialist!

Probably a ton easier to just scale/morph an existing V4 with the S4 proportions dials, although the texture will compress when scaled really drastically (but you'd have that problem anyway whatever you do).

The original concept with the V4/K4 combo was to make morphs available to the K4 model which, up to now, hasn't come available yet.

the thing about figure mixer is that it isn't simply a way of transfering one figure to another as a morph, it blends the two figures completely, repositions the rig as well as blending the two base meshes so that the joints bend in the right position. this just cant be done with a morph transfer.

Blending the vertex positions for two figures is straight forward (obviously they have to be based on the same mesh).
Blending the rigging is trickier, but mainly because the required information is more difficult to get at (bone positions are not too bad, but dealing with the JPs is where the real difficulty lies).

Absolutely.  The Stephanie 4 cr2 is nothing more than a V4 cr2 with Stephanie morphs already loaded.  Turn off "Stephanie" body morph and "Petite" Morphform and you've got V4.

I don't believe there's any other difference.

So I assume David/Mike4 will be the same.  Now, the Kids have a different Rig but not Aiko.Stephanie, The Girl or V4...all the same as far as I can tell.
