@bobbystahr...I think you can go straight to pro and by-pass the rest....but it does cost more.

Bobby....here's what it says on the forum link ...seems they have a free personal edition too...
**Now there is a Personal Learning Edition of Bryce available. That's right, you can get started using Bryce 7 standard without any up-front cost. This new PLE version provides a fully-functional, non-watermarked version of Bryce (MAC or WIN OS) that will NEVER expire.
The only restriction on the PLE version is that you may only use it for personal, non-commercial projects.

**Download Bryce 7 PLE right now to see what Bryce has in store for you.

I think what I'm asking is where in the range of 39 bux to 69 bux do I fall...
Most confusing for someone who has only ever bought 1 Bryce iteration/upgrade and that was with the kind consideration of an anonymous[by their request] member who sent a gift certificate for 6.3 when I was the only Moderator here, and had to have the full whammy to know what folks were talking about.. ...

$29.96 would be your price to upgrade to Bryce 7 from Bryce 6.3 if you are not a PC member. There is a dropdown on the product page that you need to check to get your price. If you are a PC member, then it is 30% cheaper.

Is this a requirement in order to run Bryce Pro and why should it have this dangle (monkey)?

rashadcarter posted Fri, 30 July 2010 at 2:58 AM
No, in a sense it is not a requirement. Bryce will run without DS. However, if you do want to use Ds then you need to use the one that they are suggesting.
Also, make sure that after you put in your pro serial number, you close and restart Bryce, as this restart of the program seems to be necessary for the new lights to become active.

Bobby,
You can have the Beta installed as well as Bryce7Pro - you just need to tell the installer to install to a new directory - when it says Bryce will be installed to C://ProgramFiles86/Daz3D/BryceRC2 - the BryceRC2 being the folder I had the last "Release Candidate 2" installed to - all you need to do is to hi-light "BryceRC2" and re-type it to say "Bryce7Pro" and the installer will both create a folder with that name and install to it...
But actually there's not a lot of point in having a run out Beta as well as Bryce7Pro - Me having loads of content - like millions of Materials and a wacking great gloop of Objects in the previous install I therefore let it install over the top of the RC2 - the installer kindly removes the basic content - like "Installed" and "User" "Complex FX" and simply replaces those with the same named content that comes with Bryce7Pro, so if there's new stuff in any of those folders (I think there's a tiny bit in one of them) then the new stuff gets installed.
I'm glad you've been able to come with us in upgrading to the next Bryce Bobby - I look forward to seeing what you produce with it.
Here's the last thing I did with the RC2: "Egg Rain"

If this is a major concern, especially if you're a professional, I would recommend getting a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) for your desktop and monitor. If your power drops, the UPS will switch to battery for a certain period of time. UPS' also do some degree of line conditioning, I think, to cope with flakey utility power. How long the battery lasts depends on how much draw your desktop has. A UPS won't be any good (besides the line conditioning) if your power outages last hours at a time.
I always use American Power Conversion (APC) units.
