Hi people, this is a simple experience based in a video tutorial from Newtek at Siggraph 2010. They showed how to create a vortex using particles and displacement map, so I decided to try the same thing in Carrara and works really fine too.
The cool thing here is that dont have any animated object in this scene, only maps. I think this is a good start point to understand how UV works and can be turned into space warp tunnel and other amazing stuuf. Maybe I turn this into a tutorial more later.

Here you can find the original video from Newtek (Greg Sullivan: Whirlpool):

Here is my version. Note that I didnt spend to much time in texturing and shading, its just a test scene:

Looks great! Yes, a tut for how to do this would be mighty fine. :-)

I watched that again, I really need to beef up my Carrara Knowlege some of that I have no idea how to translate.  Still very cool

Excellent. Thanks for posting the link and also showing what you've done  with it. Had to miss SIGGRAPH myself this year :-(
